It was another moon lit night, and she couldn't sleep. It had been years since she wandered the country with Sesshomaru, but Rin had found peace in the village; a kind of peace which left her feeling unsettled, and unsafe. She yearned to see Lord Sesshomaru again, and live as they had with Jakuen. Her emotions ran havoc inside of her and she just couldn't sit still anymore. Leaving the village, she decided a stroll would clear her mind. Fireflies scattered across the air, lighting her way to her favourite spot in Inuyasha's Forest; the sacred tree. She used to sit here for hours at a time; far enough away from the village to feel isolated, yet close enough to be out of harm's way. Her hands ran against the bark, feeling herself calm with the touch.
"Rin." A stern, yet familiar, voice echoed behind her. Startled, she turned in a daze. There he stood; her hopes and dreams had come true.
"You shouldn't be so far from the village at night." Her eyes searched his face; He was just the same as always.
"Oh, My lord!" she let out whimperingly as she flung herself to him, wrapping her feeble arms around his strong shoulders. She couldn't help it, all that pent up anger, loneliness and pain boiled over and she began to sob. Through her tears Sesshomaru cradled her in his arms, never uttering a word. She expected him to have pulled away, but he never once wavered. Pulling back to look at his face, she noticed his eyes seemingly glaze over. She couldn't help it, she couldn't resist any longer. Without a second though, she pressed her lips fiercely to his. A startled gasp managed to escape from his lips, but he soon relaxed. Returning the kiss, his fingers moved to her hair. Tingles ran up her spine as she held him closer.
Suddenly pulling away from her, he set her down behind him and turned to the edge of the trees.
"I thought I smelt trouble," Inuyasha called from the shadows. "You better not do anything rash, Sesshomaru. Bring Rin back safely okay." And he was gone. He must have known Sesshomaru would never hurt her. Looking up to him, Rin caught the sight of Sesshomaru's blush. He didn't look at her for a long time, until his embarrassment subsided.
"You should go back now, Rin." His voice was soft, and unwilling. She opened her mouth to complain. "Don't worry, I'll be back soon." He turned, leaning over to press his lips once more to hers, and then he was gone.
