"Kagome, you're in the way move!!" Inuyasha roared while pushing her to the side and fighting a powerful demon simultaneously.
Sango jumps on Kirara's back and takes to the air gracefully. This time she wants to end the battle, she needs to practice or she'll get rusty. She swings her hiraikotsu forcibly and it buzzed its way towards the ugly demon. It cut in half as it were slicing butter, spreading the oozing blood all over the ground and the hiraikotsu.
She didn't brag or scream yeah at the end like she used to when her family was still alive. All she did was calmly swoop down with a shadow of what her smile used to be.
"Great job Sango!" Miroku congratulated.
"Thanks, just doing my job." Sango brightened up, like she always did when Miroku was being nice.
"You were wonderful." Kagome announced uneasily. Sango could tell something was bothering her.
"Yeah, good job, but what about me I did most of the work!" Inuyasha complained.
"SIT BOY!" Kagome shouted with more venom then usual.
"He never will learn, will he?" Shippo observed quietly to Sango and Miroku.
"I don't think so." Miroku said, shaking his head.
Sango observed Kagome more carefully. Behind her furious face, the look in her eyes was a look of pain. Sango couldn't comprehend what she was so sad about.
"Kagome, will you take a walk with me, I want to go find those hot springs we saw right before we were attacked." Sango proclaimed quietly.
"Yeah, I could use a bath." Kagome said warily, but brightened slightly.
They walked side by side not saying anything. After about 10 minutes they reached the spring. They got undressed and climbed in, each of them sighing softly as they slowly but surely relaxed. Shippo was there to but he wasn't paying attention he was off playing by himself.
"So, what's wrong Kagome?" Sango finally asked tired of trying to find a subtle way of putting it.
Kagome was caught off guard for a second then finally replied, "Nothing really, it is just that I am always in the way. I can never do anything right except cook and find the sacred jewel shards. I feel like I don't fit in right, I think it is time for me to go home for a few days and take a break." She sighed letting all of her inner thoughts out.
Kagome caught herself off guard with her sudden outburst of truth and covered her mouth quickly, regretting her words, yet feeling somewhat relieved that she wasn't keeping her feelings to herself. Sango was just as surprised by the type of thoughts and feelings spilling out of Kagome's mouth.
"Kagome, you really don't think that you don't fit in here right? Because you belong here just as much as I do." Sango replied almost broken hearted.
Kagome sighed, that look that was in her eyes told Sango that she indeed believed just that. Kagome felt unneeded and as upsetting and wrong as that was, Sango could tell how she had come to these "revelations". Kagome wasn't appreciated like she should be, everyone takes Kagome for granted. They all think her an always warm and bubbly person who never gets seriously upset. No Kagome probably just prefers to be warm and bubbly rather then thinking and feeling like this all the time.
We really messed up. How could we not realize that we have been treating Kagome like a five year old child rather then a fifteen year old girl? How could I forget that she is only a year older then me?
"Kagome you do belong here, really you do." Sango pleaded.
This is my first chapter of my first fanfiction. I have some more already written, but I want feedback first before I put them up. If you like it I will by all means put the other ones up. Until then enjoy.
