The drabble is mine. Nothing else is.

"You know, I've been thinking," Nita said through a mouthful of pretzels, "we have the wrong names."

Kit raised one eyebrow and jumped next to Nita onto her kitchen table. "The wrong names? Do tell."

Nita nodded, "Well honestly, Christopher is a pretty American name. And Juanita is very Hispanic."

A chuckled emitted from Kit as he caught on.

"But I'm not Hispanic, you are. And you're not American, but I am."

"Yes," he said, "you're absolutely right."

"Our parents were just all mixed up when they named us." She tossed in another pretzel.

Kit laughed again. "I thought you were going to say something about how Roshaun's name means brilliant light."

Nita gave her friend a funny look. "How do you know that?"

"Dairine really likes that guy," he said blankly.

"That's terrible," Nita muttered as she shook her head. "But at least his name makes sense."

"Yes," Kit nodded, "what a tragic life we live. Our names don't make sense."

Nita pushed her best friend off of the table. "Go home, chino," she taunted with a smile.

Took far longer than it should have. I am procrastinating. On After Midnight and real life.
