After a long time of not writing anything at all, I have decided to write for Suikoden again. I don't have any of my old Suiko-stories up any more, but maybe it's good to start with a blank slate.

These will be centred around the Oboro Detective Agency and how things went (long) before the events of Suikoden V.

Enjoy?

All he needed to do was go to the market and buy a loaf of bread, but the teenage boy still brought a knife along with him. He always brought a knife with him, no matter where he went or who was with him.

Fuyo shook her head and stood in front of him. "Shigure, I don't think you are going to need that... Unless you plan on buttering the bread right away, and I would not suggest doing so as the rest of us would like to eat it, too."

Shigure shot her a blank stare and remained still. He had been growing a lot over the course of the past half year, and was soon to catch up with Fuyo. It still made Fuyo slightly uncomfortable to be around him, and being at practically the same level didn't make it any easier on her.

She stared him straight in the eyes, which was getting hard as he was growing his hair out. "Shigure?"

The boy blinked. "Did you not want me to buy bread?"

Fuyo nodded and tried to seem bigger by standing up straight, "yes, but you are leaving that knife here."

"Okay." Shigure stepped away from Fuyo and placed the knife on the wooden table before leaving the boat. When the door shut behind him, Fuyo's shoulders dropped and she was finally able to relax again.

"He won't hurt you, you know," came a voice from behind her.

Fuyo turned around to face Oboro "I…" She sighed.

"He really won't hurt you, unless you try to physically hurt him first."

Fuyo nodded. "I'm sorry."

Oboro gave a slight shrug. "I understand."

There was a brief moment of silence as Fuyo thought Oboro would continue talking, but the man had nothing to add. "Why does he always bring a weapon with him, though?" she asked. She had been wondering about that for a few months, but couldn't seem to figure things out on her own.

Oboro glanced to the side and fidgeted with his pen. "He has his reasons," he muttered, "I have to leave, there's a case I need to work on." And with those words, Oboro had left the boat too.

Fuyo sighed again and rubbed her temples, but quickly regained her composure when she saw Sagiri standing in the doorway. "Oh Sagiri dear, I'm going to clean up a bit, could you please help me out?"

"Okay." Sagiri smiled. of course she smiled, she never actually stopped smiling. As to why she never stopped smiling, Fuyo didn't know. Nor did she know why Shigure carried a weapon everywhere he went, or why Oboro would avoid any conversation about how he ended up taking care of two teenagers, but she would find out eventually, she was sure of it.

I do actually support the idea of Oboro x Fuyo, so there is a chance I will add that later on. But for now, let's focus on things like this.
Thank you for reading. :)
