Ad Infinitum

The black fog covered the entire country, now we don't even know where -or when, for that matter- are we. Somewhat AU, all OCs. Rated T for violence and coarse language. R&R, feel free to flame, not that I will look at them.

CHAPTER 1 - FOG ---

Year... I lost count.

I even have trouble remembering the day, but the books read December 31th.

11:59... and then nothing.

That night, time froze.

The black fog took over... and then we were whisked to nowhere.

Nobody's still quite sure of where we are, or if we are even somewhere. If you try to leave the country, the fog takes over you and sends you to the place where you left.

Time flows erratically, when it does flow. We age in a way... I simply cannot describe. Every calendar is fixed in one date. January 1st, 0. Clocks break. No one is even sure how long have been here, it may have been just 3 hours, a year, maybe even centuries, with the way everything is, there is no way to know.

Of course, we would be able to live with that, the real problem arises when the sun falls. A sinister moon rises in the sky and dyes everything red. And then... the Shadows.

Shadows... a term no one is sure why it is used, or who coined it, but it has become a catch-all term for all those creatures that roam the country at night, killing every human they come across.

Even if the military has kept the larger ones who attack from the sea at bay (no pun intended), Shadows appear to spawn indefinitely and everywhere. We are running out of supplies, and our minds start to slip away too.

Even so, some cities, among them Tokyo, are struggling to keep living the way we lived before everything happened.

Tokyo is... habitable.

There is curfew at 8 o'clock, and since there's less of everything, prices have skyrocketed, but at least... we can live.

We manage to live somewhat safely thanks to vigilante groups that keep the Shadows away from the citizens. They're needed, since the army barely can contain the larger Shadows away from the coasts.

Officially, they are not supposed to exist. Extraofficially, they are the only thing keeping the Shadows from destroying the country from the inside out.

I should know. I'm the leader of Wave, one of those vigilante team.
