The Lost Child: Chapter 1 My Visitor

_My name is summer. I have auburn hair and dark brown eyes. I am known as the lost child. It's true, I've been trapped here for a long time. I know they will find me soon. I just hope that it isn't too late. I can't remember what year it is or even what day it is. Although I do keep track of how many days go by. I do know who my family is though. Also I know some things about the country I live in. Panem.

_I am held captive by a man they call President Snow, but he isn't a nice man as he seems. I do resemble his daughter that was killed by some crazy rebellious people. No, I don't come from District Thirteen. I come from District Twelve. I haven't seen Snow for months and I am very worried. My supplies are limited now. Suddenly I hear footsteps coming towards me. I look into the eyes of my visitor and he gasps. He points a gun at me and then sees my necklace and realizes that I am not dangerous. He looks at the door and fiddles with it. "Don't it's no use I've tried. It hasn't been opened since I was thrown in here. It could trigger something that could kill me," I started." I was sentenced down here when I was taken as a small child. I don't remember much but my family. And I recognize you but you were a child." I stopped there knowing there was no use. He didn't remember me. He wouldn't remember his own sister.

_This is how my story is told above ground. There was a small child taken from her family. She was tortured. Soon she was turned into a wretched monster. She was so dangerous they let her loose in the forest. She takes her anger out on anyone who trespasses into her homeland. Only the sound of her family can change her back. Only her family can save her.

_He looks into my eyes and I feel fearsome so I slide back into my dark lonesome corner. My wrists are locked with cuffs that are chained to the wall. I have a small bed in the other corner and a closet of clothes and other supplies. I have a small room linked to mine that is my bathroom. There are no windows in this dank place. There are faint lights that aren't very bright that seem to never go out. I question myself whether to give him subtle hints or not. I can see he is also questioning himself. He is sitting down slumped over his knees. He then gets down on his knees and looks down at the floor. "Yes" I finally say. "It's true isn't it. You are The Lost Child," he responds. Those words are ringing in my ears. Finally I speak up after a few moments. "Yes but that isn't it. I am much more than that, and if you don't know by now then I am no use to you. So you might as well kill me to save myself." I start getting all teary eyed. I am such a sensitive person. Then I let it go, I burst into tears. I am so worried about what will happen to me. Oh, I wish I could just be with my family.

_"I lost a sister as a child. She was four and I was ten" he starts up again. He holds out his hand and I take it as he continues. "They took her when I looked away. We were outside and my parents were inside taking care of everyone else. I chased for her. I was no match for them, the peace keepers. She was everything to me. She had a necklace I gave her. It opened up by one special word that anyone of our family could say," he pauses for a slight moment. "Summer" he says. That's when the locket on my necklace opened up. That's when it was triggered the blade came out of the wall and landed in my torso. I let out a scream. Tears were pouring down my face like raindrops on fresh tree leaves. I look at him. " Gale" my last words escaped from my lips just as darkness encloses around me.
