Disclaimer: Don't sue me....I don't own anything but my strange half-awake ideas.

Author Note: Once again, I was sitting there in bed in that half-awake state of not wanting to get up (I love summer) and I was struck by a fluff story waiting to be written! It's amazing isn't it?! So here I am again with H/R fluff! Excuse me if it's a bit sappy.

A Reason to Fight

The pale golden rays of winter afternoon sunlight fell gently through the windows of the Hogwarts library upon a table where two sixth year students were working side by side. The taller of the two figures was a redheaded boy with broad shoulders who was doodling on a piece of parchment. The other was a girl whose brown hair was rumpled and who's wrinkled forehead betrayed her concentration on the dusty volume before her.
Yes, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger made quite a pair sitting there in the library studying together. Someone who didn't know the two well might have suggested that since their friend Harry had opted out of studying with them the couple might be taking advantage of some time alone. But such a suggestion would have been wrong as Hermione insisted that, even though it was only January, she needed to be studying for her OWL's in order to have a successful future. Had the brightest witch in her class been paying attention though, she would have noticed the glances Ron kept darting her way betraying that perhaps studying was not exactly what he though they should be doing alone in the far corner of the library.
Finally Ron broke the silence by asking aloud "'Mione, do you really think we'll win this?" His girlfriend didn't look up, but just waved her hand distractedly and answered "Of course you'll beat Slytherin tomorrow Ron." There was a hesitation, then Ron said, "That's not what I was talking about." "Oh, I'm sorry Ron, what were you talking about?" Hermione asked, this time looking up and catching the worry in his eyes. "Well, it's just that I've been thinking about Harry and well, You-Know-Who and, just do you really think we have a chance to beat him. You-Know-Who that is." "Oh" Hermione breathed softly, looking away for a minute and considering her answer. Finally she looked up at him and said, "Well, I really do think that we have a chance. I mean, It just doesn't seem right that Voldemort should win. You'd think that if there really is God, or fate or anything good, he has to loose. I mean he's, he's just, I mean the man kills innocent people!" There was a pause and then Hermione added, "Besides, we've got Harry on our side, and Dumbledore too. That has to count for something." She finally stopped, unable to say more. After a moment Ron smiled and cupped her cheek in his hand and looked her in the eye saying, "And we have the brightest witch ever to come to Hogwarts. That has to count for something as well." Hermione blushed but didn't look away. She answered him softly. "If we loose then we'll never be together, so we have to win." She said. "Hmm..." Ron said with a smile. "That sounds like a reason to fight."
