"Let's go, Akamaru! Fang over fang!" Kiba shouted.
It was another warm, sunny day that Kiba would've much rather liked to spend goofing off with his dog than training in the woods.
The dog that had once been the small puppy that had sat on the young Shinobi's head barked loudly and, in a puff of smoke, transformed into Kiba's twin.
Kiba's teeth elongated and sharpened, as did his nails, and his senses grew more powerful. He could smell the earth, damp with the rain that had fallen the previous night, and the trees that stood tall around them. Feral aggression and adrenaline raced through his veins, exciting him and getting him pumped up. He was ready to kick serious ass, even though it was only training.
He was disappointed when he noticed that Akamaru wasn't in his fighting position; instead, he sat on the ground and attempted to scratch himself behind the ear with his foot.
Kiba narrowed his eyes at his feral-human likeness then slapped his hand against his face. "Akamaru! Now's not the time! We have training to finish!" He groaned.
Akamaru pouted with his human-Kiba face then yawned widely.
Kiba sighed and rolled his eyes; even when Akamaru was wearing his face, Kiba still thought he was cute like the puppy he was.
Akamaru whined.
Kiba smiled affectionately as he gave in and plopped down on the ground beside the dog that appeared human. Akamaru's tongue lulled out of his mouth in that dog-like fashion; it was the only way anyone could tell the two apart when using the jutsu.
The young Shinobi ruffled the dark hair that matched his own and smiled. Akamaru barked happily in a somewhat human voice then jumped on Kiba.
Kiba laughed and squirmed under the human-disguised dog as Akamaru licked his face, "Get off, Akamaru, don't do that when you look like me!"
Akamaru smiled with Kiba's face then was enveloped in smoke.
When the smoke cleared, Akamaru was back to being a huge white dog. He loomed over Kiba and started licking his face again.
The brown haired boy was thrown into another fit of laughter as he rolled out from under the enormous dog.
"You faker! You're not tired at all!" Kiba shouted, a playful smile planted on his face. Akamaru whined, but wore an expression that could almost be considered a smile.
Kiba grinned wolfishly, his teeth had shrunk back to their normal size. "Come on, Akamaru," he ruffled the large dogs ears as he panted happily and wagged his tail, "Let's go home."
Together, they raced through the trees. Faster than normal Shinobi, they moved with the speed of canine hunters; weaving through the tress and back home.
