Just a little something that popped into my head last night.

Lyra/Kotone=Soul because I like that name better.

Enjoy!

"Hi, I'm Soul," was the first thing she had ever said to him; those words changed his life. She had spotted him on her way to professor Elm's lab. He was just standing outside staring into the window. Most people would have found him suspicious but not her and her innocence. She was just eager to make a new friend; to bad for her he had no interest, at the time. So, he just shoved her away while glaring at her with his glare that even scared the toughest of men and yet she was unaffected.

Disappointed, she entered the lab for the moment that changed her life. He didn't know it then and he's still denies it now but their encounter is what changed his life. He laughed as he watched her chose, in his opinion, the weak grass type but he was relieved that she didn't take the fire type that he had his eye on.

Once she had left with her new chikorita bouncing behind her (but not before waving to him), he was sure that they would never meet again; after all his goal was to be the strongest, a weak, little girl, like her, wouldn't cross his path again. He ran through Cherrygrove city eager to test out his new Pokemon. He was certainly surprise to run into her but she was the perfect victim or so he thought. Denial became his best friend that day when he had lost to her. He refused to believe that she was even capable of defeating a weak, wild caterpie so there was no way she could beat him.

Throughout their journeys they ran into each other several times. Despite taking out Team Rocket she still managed to retain that same innocent she had when they first met. He too did not change, he was still the same jerk and yet she still wanted to be friends. They battled every time and every time he lost with him denying the lost each time. Somewhere along the way his goal changed from being the strongest to just defeating her. It was weird by his standards but he never noticed.

Eventually as their journeys near their end he finally began to change. He accepted the fact that his rude, angry training style was not the way to become stronger so he started to copy her style and it was amazing how much he improved so quickly. She was still his goal so he never missed a chance to challenge her and again he didn't notice how closer he was getting to her.

"I love you," she told him one day, after one of their many battles. Again words that would change his life but this time it weren't her words it was his.

"I love you too."
