Stein sat in his chair, staring at the clock and the minutes ticking by. Time had never felt so crucial, until now when it was now running out. The seconds, the minutes, the hours, all seemed so valuable now.
The Madness was slowly consuming him; minute by agonizing minute.
Stein thought about how time usually seemed to slow to a crawl when one was staring at a clock, it wasn't so for him. He desperately wished he could slow time by watching the clock, watching the countdown on his sanity.
Seconds, minutes, hours; it all seemed to blend together as he sat in his chair, twisting the screw in his head, his silhouette illuminated by the light from his computer screen.
Tick, tock. Tick, tock.
Bells chimed the passing of another hour as he still stared at the clock face.
Tick, tock. Tick, tock.
And then,
time was up.
