Disclaimer: I own Cora-san and Law- *gets struck by lightning and dies before author could finish the sentence*
Author's Notes: Another OP fanfic from me. Chapter 767 indubitably broke my heart, and I'm still too far from the road to recovery(I love you, Cora-san. Thank you for saving my kurdel Law). Then I got struck by a sudden inspiration due to Cora-san's clumsiness. I don't actually know what to say after I finished writing this little piece. You're free to curse me after you're done reading this(if you ever read it, that is... *chuckles awkwardly*)
After months of looking for a cure to heal Law's illness, who would have thought that Doflamingo himself would give Corazon the answer?
Running as fast as his gangly legs would allow him, Corazon clutched the Ope Ope no Mi close to his chest. He ran blindly with joy to where he left Law. The man had been caught, but he fought ferociously like a wild beast and escaped. He was injured in the scuffle, but he paid no heed of the pain shooting in his body. He got the Ope Ope no Mi(which he so painstakingly cradled over-protectively against his chest and made sure not to be damaged all throughout the ordeal) and he had to get to Law immediately.
Truly, the gods must be smiling at them now!
Corazon rounded on a corner and saw the boy still seated where he was left, huddled against the wall. Law looked up as the older male fell on his knees in front of the child, his painted lips carved in a huge smile.
"I got it, Law!"Corazon declared triumphantly and held up the heart-shaped Fruit for the child to see. "You're gonna get healed; you're going to live!"
A look of pure joy and relief appeared on Law's white-bruised face as he gazed at the Fruit Corazon was cradling in his palms. The boy weakly reached out a small hand to take it as Corazon offered him the Fruit...
...which suddenly burst to flames.
The two males looked at the Fruit now turned to ashes on Corazon's hands, their eyes wide with varying degrees of shock and disbelief. Law looked at Corazon and saw that the end of the man's cigarette was crackling with fire that soon died as a gust of wind swept by. Corazon cursed his luck and clumsiness to the nine pits of Hell and beyond.
"I hate you, Cora-san."
The reply was a pitiful mixture of admittance and agreement.
"I know. I hate myself, too."
