Chapter 1: The girl in Temporal Tower

-Kate's POV-

I silently blew out my birthday candles. I was finally sixteen. That also means, I have lived in this dark world for sixteen years. This dark, depressing, gloomy, world. I absolutely hate it.

Not only that. I have also lived in this tower for sixteen years. With my father and his advisors, and his advisor's underlings.

I've never really liked Dusknoir and his Sableye. They always scared me. The Sableye's gem like eyes and claws always made me shudder when I caught sight of them. But good thing they mainly kept to their quarters of the tower. But Dusknoir, he was a whole another story. I always hated him and how would stare at me, as if I was a worthless bug. His one red eye would send chill's running down my back.

But back to the story.

As I blew out the candles Dusknoir crashed into my room, frantic. I stood up and stared at him.

"What happened?" I asked.

"There has been a breach in the defenses. You are to report to Master Dialga, immediately." He seemed to pace, floating.

There had been a lot of attacks recently. Father has been saying it's just normal for that to happen, just because all of the bad Pokémon.

I went out the door, Sableye were racing around, shouting orders to one another.

"What sort of attack is it this time?" I asked.

"It's a Grovyle." Dusknoir replied.

I froze and stared at him. "A-A Grovyle?" Grovyle's were pretty rare, due to the fact that no Pokémon were able to evolve anymore. But could this be the Grovyle I had been seeing in my dreams.

Recently I had been having weird dreams, about a Grovyle coming to rescuing me from this stupid tower. Sometimes I would get so caught up in the dream, I would believe it would actually be happening. But then I would wake up, and my prince in shining armor would be gone and I would still be trapped in this tower. Every day I wish that dream would come true. Could today finally be the day?

"Is something worng?" Dusknoir asked.

"No…." I held my hadns behind my back and stared at him. "Nothing is wrong at all." I tried my best to hold back a smile.

"Do you know where Master Zen, and Master Geo are?" The ghost type questioned.

"Zen? Geo? No, I haven't seen them at all today." I responded. Zen and Geo, my two childhood best friends. These twin brothers love to cause trouble, but will do anything and everything I say. They are family to me.
"Well then, they must be with Master Dialga already….." He looked away at the panicking Sableye.

"Well, I better get going then….." I began to walk away down the hall to where my father's meeting spot was.

"Hold on a second.." This ghost type was really getting on my nerves now.

"What?"

"Let me see your hand." He held out a big grey hand.

"No." I held my right hand against my stomach. Recently some weird insignia had appeared on my right wrist. It was like something I had never seen before. I can't even describe.

"I promise I won't hurt you." He looked gentle, but I knew behind that act he was lying.

"KATE! THERE YOU ARE!" Zen came to my rescue.

"Zen!" I tried my best to keep the relief out of my voice.

Dusknoir looked down at the floor quickly. "Master Zen….."
"Kate, the tower is under attack. You are hereby requested in Master Dialga's presence." Zen stated. "If you would be so kind, I was on my way there now. If you like me to accompany you." He held out his hand.

I took his hand and bowed. "Why thank you kind sir."

We walked down the hall. Dusknoir stood there looking like a Bidoof.

"Dusknoir!" I snapped. "Get your Sableye under control!"

"Yes, Princess." He said and then began barking orders.

We turned down a hall and Zen burst out laughing.
"What's so funny?" A smile was sprawled across my face.

"You." He jabbed me in my side.

"Hey!" I poked him back, and then soon we were having a poking war.

"What are you idiots doing?" Geo appeared out of nowhere.

"HE STARTED IT!" I shouted.
"NO! SHE DID!" Zen screamed.

Geo face palmed and stared at us. "I don't really care who started it." A slow smirk began to form on his face. "AS LONG AS I GET PIECE OF THE ACTION!"

"RUN!" I raced down the hall, Geo on my heels. Zen ran alongside me, he had the usual goofy grin he always seemed to wear.

"Just what do you think you are doing?"

"Father….." I hit the brakes just in time, right before I could crash into my father.

"Kate!" Zen slammed into me, causing me to lose my balance. He quickly steadied me, but then Geo slammed into Zen and we all went crashing down.

I looked and saw the disappointment of my father's face.

"Kate. You are sixteen. There is no reason for you to act like a five year old. Preferably you should be acting like the young adult you are. Not only that you need to fulfill your role as princess."

"Well maybe I don't want to be princess." I snapped.

The entire hall grew silent.

Father glared down at me. "How. Dare. You. Say. That."

Zen and Geo hurried to get off of me, and they grabbed me under my arms and lifted me to my feet.

"Young lady," Father stared at me, "You are to fulfill your role as princess of the timeless world. Or else…"
"Or else you'll what?" I challenged.

In that second his hand flashed down and smacked my face.

Zen and Geo backed up a little, unsure of what to do, feeling the awkwardness of the situation.

"Say that one more time, I dare you!" Father threatened.

I immediately clamped my mouth shut.

"That is what I thought….."
