An emerald skinned girl overlooked the glimmering city. She wore a black cloke that covered most of her face. She mused over how the city had never changed all these years, almost like nothing ever happened and she didn't run away with... him.
"Hello Glinda... I've returned." Elphaba said aloud and smiled, showing the whites of her teeth.
(Moments later)
Glinda looked at her citizens lovingly. A little munchkin girl had gone up to her and given her a little hand-made craft doll. The good witch smiled, but felt a twinge of sadness. She would never forget that ten years ago from today her best friend fleed Oz in search of refuge. Glinda blamed herself so much. For the longest time Glinda believed the Witch of the West to be dead. When one of her soldiers came marching back, and told her he found evidence that she may in fact be alive. Glinda had this guard sworn to secrecy and that they would not tell the citizens, not ever, there could be a glimmer of hope that her best friend could be alive still. As Glinda was pulled out of her deep thought, she spun around and noticed a cloked shadow lurking in the doorway.
"Who's there?" She said defensively. Glinda was no longer a damsel, over the years she had learned to fight so that she could defend Oz herself should it come to that. But she didn't need to fight now, it looked like. She let her guard down when the advancer revealed herself. Glinda gasped and shed a tear.
"E-Elphie?" She said.
"Happy belated birthday, Glinda. I know it's a little late..." Elphaba pulled down her cloke. She became worried when her friend of the past didn't say anything. "G-Glinda? I know, I know... this is really bad timing, but I just want you to kn-" Elphaba was cut off when the blonde put her lips to the emerald skinned girl's. Elphaba said nothing, she only stood there in pure shock. Her mind was screaming at her to bolt and run but the rest of her body stood there, rigid. Had Glinda always felt this way? What did all of this mean? Their lips parted, the women gazed into each other's eyes.
"Y-you have no idea how long I've wanted to do that for..." Glinda said, collapsing in Elphaba's arms sobbing. Elphaba didn't know why but she soon began to cry with the blonde.
"None of it seems to matter anymore..." Elphaba murmured.
"Elphie?" Glinda looked up, sniffling.
"All that happened in the past. It doesn't matter. I'm here now." Elphaba explained soothingly, stroking the blonde hair that had always had a gentle curl to it. Glinda smiled with happy tears in her eyes now. She didn't care about what the citizens of Oz thought. Her friend was finally here to stay for good.
