Big Mac stared at the telephone, praying for it to ring. He'd been like this since he found out Applejack had run off on friday night. It was now Monday morning.

"Big Mac!" Granny said, "It's time to get ta work!"

Big Mac held back tears as he said, "Ah'll jus' be a sec, Granny." He trotted up to his room, grabbed his guitar, and trotted back to the phone. He pressed the outgoing message record button, strummed his guitar and softly sang, "It doesn't matter what you've done. We still love you. It doesn't matter where you've been. You can always come home. And AJ, if it's you, we got a lot of makin' up to do. And we can't hug you on the phone, so hurry home." and he pressed the Save button.

"Outgoing message: Saved" the phone's robotic voice said.

Big Mac leaned his guitar against the wall and headed out the door.

That evening, when Big Mac returned to the house, he checked the phone and saw the message light was flashing. He couldn't have pressed the Play button faster if he tried.

"One new message" the robotic voice said, "All message, playback" It then beeped and the message played.

"Hey Apple family" the pony on the phone said, "Just checking up on yay. I just heard the news about AJ. I hope you find her. I'm going into the city in a few days. I'll keep my eyes open, and if I see her, I'll remind her that her family's worried sick about her."

Big Mac looked at the phone as it beeped, then said that that was the end of the messages. He softly sang to himself, "It doesn't matter what you've done. We still love you. It doesn't matter where you've been. You can always come home. And AJ, if it's you, we got a lot of makin' up to do. And we can't hug you on the phone, so hurry home."

Well, a week pased with no word from Applejack.

"Big Mac" Granny asked, "Don't cha reckon it's 'bout time to take that ol' message off?"

Big Mac shook his head and said, 'Nope... Ya never know when she might call."

...

Applejack was just outside a bar in Manehatten. Her so -called friends had ditched her and disappeared into the night, leaving her alone and afraid. She walked to the nearest payphone, clutching her last bit in her hoof... Scared to death that her family wouldn't want her after everything she'd put them through... But she dropped the bit into the slot, dialed the number, and let the phone ring...

It rang three times, then went to the machine. Then, She heard Big Mac's voice singing on the line...

"It doesn't matter what you've done. We still love you. It doesn't matter where you've been. You can always come home. And AJ, if it's you, we got a lot of makin' up to do. And we can't hug you on the phone, so hurry home."

Big Mac had heard the phone ring, but had been downstairs in the basement, so he had been unable to get to it before the message started. When it ended, he heard Applejack say...

"I'm on my way."
