He still remembers the way the beast's arms wrapped around him while carrying him to his death. Sometimes, late at night and deep asleep, Jack mistakes the arms lovingly holding him for those tentacles. He struggles every time, reaching for his sword and awakening his lover. Will's no longer surprised, though he wishes the nightmares would stop plaguing his beloved. He knows now how to hold him without his grip being too tight, and every time, he does while kissing him awake. He keeps holding and stroking him while they wait for dawn's light to finish chasing away the memories.
