Jack stood on his ship's highest point, his booted feet carefully balancing on the crow's nest's rim. He had his Pearl back at last. She was his freedom, and his home. He was both King and Captain when astride her vessel. He'd believed her to be everything he needed, and yet, he still didn't feel quite right. Something was missing; his heart hurt. His kohl-rimmed eyes turned back to the shore, back to the man who'd foolishly chosen a woman's hand over a lifetime of adventure and piracy with him. "We'll just have to learn to live wit'out him, gel."
