Hi, this is different to most stories I write. This is based on the book 'wintergirls' it's about a girl trying to overcome anorexia. In glee Rachel's dads are gay but in this she only has one dad and he's married to her stepmother. I hope you enjoy, this is an issue that many girls experience and I just wanted to address it in t the best possible way, I want you to know you're all beautiful. Reviews are well appreciated!

The words start coming out of her mouth, along with the crumbs from her blackberry muffin. She tells me in 4- no 5 sentences, slowly and carefully like I'm a child who doesn't understand. I can't let my ears interpret this, but it's too late. The truth sneaks up on me ldand stabs me with a fork. But then she gets to the worst part... The body was found in the hotel room, alone... I switch my ears onto off mode. I nod along like I'm listening to her, pretending I'm intrestec, like we're actually having a conversation, but the truth is I wasn't. It wasn't nice to hear about girls dying, especially not girls you know.

'Are you sure you're okay?' She asked

'I'm fine.' I lie

She leans across the table, reaching for the box of chocolate-chip cookies.

'This must feel awful Rachel.' She says as she rips off the cardboard ribbon

'Worse than awful, can you get me a clean container to put these in sweetie?'

I take a clear container and lid from out of the cupboard and hand it to her.

'Where's dad?' I ask, curiously.

'At a meeting, he's not going to be home 'till late.'

'Who told you about Mercedes?' I ask her

She crumbles the edges of the cookies before she puts them in the box, to make it look like she baked instead of bought, before replying 'Your mother called late last night, she wanted to make sure you are okay. She also wants you to see your therapist, Dr. Scavo right away.'

'What do you think I should do?' I ask her, I know Terri wasn't my real mother, but I felt comfortable asking her some things.

'It's a good idea.' She replied

'I'll try and get you an appointment for noon tomorrow.' She added

'Don't bother.' I pull out the top rack of the dishwasher. The glasses vibrate with little screams when I touch them. If I pick them up, they'll shatter. 'There's no point.' She pauses in mid crumble.

'Rachel, Mercedes was your best friend!' She replied, confused.

'Not any more, she's gone. I'll see Dr. Scavo next week, like I'm supposed to.' I reply, bitterly

'Well it's your choice, I guess.' She replied

Terri's eyes lock on onto the clock and shouts 'Five minutes Chloe.' Chloe was my annoying little sister.

Chloe doesn't reply, she's too busy in the sitting room watching cartoons a nd eating a bowl of cocoa puffs.

Terri nibbles at her cookie. 'I hate to speak negative about the dead but to be honest I'm glad you can't hang out with her anymore.'

I set the button on the dishwasher to '30 minutes' before I reply 'Why?'

'Mercedes was a mess, she could of taken you down with her Rach.' She answered, eating another cookie.

I reach for the steak knife hiding in the nest of spoons. The black handle is warm.

As I pull it free, the blade slices the air, dividing the kitchen into slivers.

There is Terri, packing store-bought cookies in a plastic tub for her step-daughter's class.

There is Dad's empty chair, pretending he has no choice about these early meetings.

There is the shadow of my mother, who prefers the phone because face-to-face takes too much time and usually ends in screaming.

Here stands a 17 year old MKHS student clutching a knife.

'Thank God you're stronger than she was.' Terri drains her coffee mug and wipes the crumbs from the corners of her mouth.

The knife slides into the butcher block with a whisper.

'Yeah.' I reach for a plate, scrubbed free of blood and gristle.

It's pretty similar to the original right now, but as the story progresses it will start to change. Please review
