Family

We were all round at Jennifer and Spencer's house, we were having a BBQ to celebrate jack's birthday. Spencer and Jennifer had 2 children Henry, 3, and 18-month year old Mia. They had been married for four years, they had decided to get married just over a year before they had Henry. It was a small but beautiful, it was spencer's dying mother's wish to see her only child marry his love of his life.

Then there was the infamous David Rossi, the Italian stallion, the women wooer, panty dropper. But then there was our Dave Rossi, grandpa to the kids, loving caring friend. The Dave Rossi who was in completely and utterly in love with Erin Strauss who had a solid relationship, it made the BAU run smoother and importantly they made each other happy.

Then there was me and my hubby, Derek Morgan, we had been married for just over 2 years. We were also expecting our first child together, we don't know the sex as we want it to be a surprise, but I think it's a going to be a girl. I was currently talking to JJ about names and Derek was trying to help Dave on the grill, whilst Erin was going to open the door for our last family.

Aaron and Jack walked in, jack was crying. He quickly screamed 'NO, I DON'T WANT A PARTY, I DON'T WANT MY BIRTHDAY, I WANT MY MOMMY!' Aaron's heart just broke into two seeing his son like this, it hadn't been any easy 8 months, Aaron had quickly become a single parent to Jack whist dealing with everything at work. But the hardest thing was trying to cope with was, Emily dealing with the CIA, nobody knew where she was being held whilst this trial was going on. You see emily was a key witness against Ian Doyle but that meant she had to be held at an undisclosed location until the trial was over and no one knew when the trail started or ended. The only thing that everyone knew was that Jack wasn't dealing with the separation from his mother very well and Aaron can't do everything without help.

Dave quickly left Derek in charge of the BBQ/grill and went to find Jack. Dave quickly found Jack in the games room staring at the pictures on the wall, 'It's their family wall, everyone who they class as family is on this wall in pictures, look at them.' There were multiple pictures about 10 or 15, different ones. Some of just the team members, some of the kids, some of JJ's parents and brother and sisters, some of Spencer's mother with Henry and Mia, some of just Spencer, Jennifer and His mum. But jack was only looking the picture at the end it was one of Emily and the kids with Jack in her lap. You could see with their eyes and their smiles, definitely Mother and son.

'I miss mommy, grandpa.' Dave didn't know what to say other than a single question. 'What do you miss about her, Jack.' He knew it couldn't be just her, there are certain things that only a mother can do not matter how hard a father tried. 'I miss the way mommy cuddles me when I'm sad, I miss mommy when I come home with daddy and mommy's not there to hug me when I come in. I miss mommy today the most b'cause its my birthday and she promised she would be her today. She said she would give me my special present but that's a surprise, so don't tell daddy, grandpa!' he then started to cry.

Dave was intrigued what special present could Emily have for jack, of course it could be a toy she had got him without telling Aaron. But why would she promise something if she wasn't here. That had clearly upset Jack even more. But Dave knew he had to try to console Jack as it was his special day. 'buddy, you know that if your mom could be here that she would, she loves you and your dad so so much and if she saw you know she would tell you to enjoy your party. She really does love you Jack, I'm going to tell you a secret, okay? But don't tell your mom I told you.' Jack just nodded, his crying as stopped and was calming down.

'When you were born, your mom made you a promise that you would never be without love and wherever she or you dad was they would always love you, no matter where they were. She also said to me if anything ever happened to you when you were in my care, she would burn one of my books! So, don't cry because I don't want one of my books burnt!' Dave said laughing he knew that wasn't quite what the threat was but better not tell jack the real threat, don't think he needs to know she would cut my precious 'jewels' off. Jack started laughing 'don't worry grandpa, I won't let mommy touch your books. Ill tell her off if she does!'

I took jack by the hand and led him back into the living room to see everyone, but I noticed everyone had gathered outside. Aaron was currently on the phone, probably talking to his mother and his family. Erin called us over and said they wanted to do presents and then cake. Jack ran off to hug his dad, 'Daddy, I'm sorry. I shouted but I miss mommy lots and lots.'

Aaron then kneeled down and looked his son in the eye and spoke carefully, 'I know you didn't mean it buddy, I know you miss mommy. I miss her too but guess who is coming down at the weekend, Grandma and Grandpa, they are coming down to see you and give you your present. I bet you they have got you a really big present.' He could see jack becoming more excited. 'Should we go open some presents, Jack?' Aaron sore he had never seen him run so quickly.

JJ brought him a race car set, Spencer got him A new book collection about animals. Penelope got him a new video game, Derek brought him a new football goal. Aaron had given him his presents this morning when Jack woke him up at 5 o clock. Dave and Erin got him a new scooter even though Aaron told Dave repeatedly that he didn't need a new one.

Penelope walked into the kitchen and lit the candles on the cake, she then carefully brought it over to the table, she placed it in front of Jack. They all sung happy birthday to him, spencer told him to make wish.'

Jack clenched his hands together and squeezed his hands, clenched his eyes and shouted, 'I WISH MOMMY WOULD COME HOME AND ALSO THAT I COULD GO TO DISNEYWORLD!' only a child could make a serious wish also childish. Of course, he wanted his mommy home and of course he wanted to go to Disneyworld which child didn't or adult for that matter. Disneyworld is the happiest place on earth. Everyone just cheered.

Slowly everyone was slowly disappearing, Penelope and Derek had left to go home as the pregnancy was taking a toll on Penelope. Dave and Erin followed as they were back at work tomorrow as Dave was acting section chief this week due to Aaron having it off. Aaron quickly packed up Jack's presents and the cake, quickly said goodbye to JJ and Spencer, Aaron also thanked them for the party.

Once in the car, Jack was slowly becoming withdrawn in himself as did Aaron, as their once loud apartment was silent due to no Emily and they both knew that it wouldn't have changed in the 3/4 hours they had been at the Reid's. Jack jumped out of the car, but Aaron quickly stopped him. Firstly, Aaron noticed that there was a light on in their apartment and someone had also taken the mail out of his mailbox which was in the lobby.

Jack was quickly getting restless, this all concluded that it had to be someone Aaron knew as the apartment had a security alarm, which needed a security code to be entered to it and the mailbox was pin operated that only a handful of people knew. They quickly climbed the stairs to the apartment which was on the 3 floor, the building did have an elevator, but Emily always insisted on taking the stairs. Healthier she always said. God, he missed her.

Aaron opened the door whilst jack raced in talking a hundred words a minute, about how he was going to play with his race car set and put the book collection on his shelf in his bedroom. Aaron was currently trying to juggle the cake, presents and keeping his balance. When suddenly jack stopped, and Aaron nearly fell into him, 'jack, you can't stop there. I nearly tripped over you.' But then my eyes followed jack's gaze.

There on the coffee table was a baby seat, with a little baby inside. Aaron was stunned, his voice in his head was currently screaming WHY WAS THERE A BABY IN HIS APARTMENT WITHOUT AN ADULT AND WHO ON EARTH LEFT IT HERE. Jack and Aaron had crept up to peek inside, suddenly the baby started to fuss, and paternal instinct took over Aaron he quickly swooped the baby up, he noticed the baby was wearing a pink and white stripped baby suit, which meant she was a baby girl. Aaron couldn't place but the baby looked at home in his arms and she looked so familiar, so much like jack as a baby.

'Look at that my family all in one room.' Aaron quickly spun around, there standing in the kitchen was the love of his life, the mother of his children?

'MOMMY!' jack ran over almost knocking her over.

'Baby boy, I missed you so so so much! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I love you so much! I'm sorry I had to go away. Jack just hugged her tighter. 'mommy, who is that baby?' Of course, jack would be the one to ask, Aaron was just standing there in shock, his wife was back but there still was a baby in his hands.

Emily slowly picked jack up, she quickly made the trip from the kitchen to the sofa and sat next to Aaron who was currently holding their daughter, but he didn't know that just yet. 'Well, um, jack this is your sister.' That answer seems to satisfy Jack as he then skipped over to his room. I knew I had explain to do to Aaron. I turned to face him, but he was just staring with fascination at his daughter.

'Aaron, I wanted to tell you, but I couldn't contact you. When I was taken into protective custody for his trial, I had just found out I was pregnant 2 days before, I had planned on telling you. I had it all planned out, I should have told straight away but I didn't know if you ever wanted more children with me, considering jack's age and our jobs, I never knew if you did. I'm sorry.' With that she started to form tears in her eyes due to Aaron not saying anything.

'I have a daughter, we have a daughter. Em I'm so happy, you have no idea. I wish I had been there for her birth, but you and she are here now that's all that matters. I love you so much, I missed you and you, I never knew you would be the final piece to our family but here you are. How old is she? When was she born? Weight? Her name? What is her name?' he started to ramble, Emily was glad he wasn't angry.

'she is 4 days old, she was born on 21st of July. She weighed 5lbs 6ozs. Her name is Katherine Alice Hotchner. I named her after your mum, I wanted a part of you with her at all times even if you weren't there for her birth.'

'come on let's go and get jack and get in bed. We have missed you so much. I love you Emily Hotchner.' He said silently crying.

'I have missed you too, I love you too Aaron Hotchner.' She quickly walked into jack's room and pulled him into her arms. She walked into the master bedroom to a sight she never wants to forget Aaron was laying on his side with Katherine next to him just smiling at her, while waving his finger that Katherine was trying to grab. She quickly laid her and jack next to them. This is where they belong together with both of their children between them.

The four of them, Father, Mother, Son and Daughter together under one roof. The Hotchner's.

This was family. Family is forever.
