Red.
A color that symbolizes numerous things. Anger, blood, energy, the sun, fire, and vitality. But above all…or at least to him, the most important thing red could ever symbolize to him was her.
If the red string theory was true, could it really be possible that his string connected to hers? From the moment he saw her, the boy became infatuated. Surely it was fate then, for them to meet at every event? Does that prove the red string theory to be true?
And yet…
And yet when he saw her from afar…he could no longer call what he had for her an infatuation. The red she wore was beautiful. Everything matched perfectly, from the orange obi to the pink flowers and the way you could still see her neck with that beautiful hairstyle.
He hated to look away, but Seijuuro couldn't help but to take out his hands and look at them. Surely...the red string theory was real…
"Senpai, let's go get some fried squid!" One of his relay buddies nudged him and brought the captain back to his senses.
"Sure, sounds good to me." He gave a small smile, but it quickly faded when he glanced over and saw that she was gone.
"Kou-chan…" The name briefly escaped his lips.
"Hmm? What was that senpai?" Another swimmer looked back at him.
"Ah! Nothing, nothing, just thought I saw someone that I knew. Let's go get that fried squid, I'm starving!" He followed the group and could feel himself frowning again.
Red.
Something more than anger, blood, energy, the sun, fire, and vitality.
Something more than infatuation.
At that point in time…no…Seijuuro stuck his hands back in his pockets to conceal clenched fists.
Now.
Red means love.
First time getting back into the fanfiction scene after a few years, but I'm glad it's a Free! fic to be writing again! I hope you enjoyed this one shot, I really wanted to see Seijuuro see Kou in her yukata in episode 9 but looks like imagination will have to suffice for now, huh?
