When Will had found Tessa, she was curled up on the sofa with A Tale of Two Cities in her lap and voraciously reading it. It seemed as though she was turning a page every twenty seconds. He smiled and shook his head, placing himself on her left side. They seemed to lay there for what seemed like hours, just him and her reading Dickens. Blue and grey eyes were reading the same words, and Will was watching her mouth them silently. It was one of the things he secretly loved about her.

But before he knew it, Tessa's head was resting on his shoulder. He looked over to see her fast asleep, her book long forgotten. Will watched his wife with a sad smile on his face. He reached a finger and let it brush through her delicate brown hair. That one small movement allowed Will to smell her fig and pear scented hair. His eyes moved down to her soft facial features. The worry lines that generally appeared on her face after dealing with James and Lucie's antics were smoothed away by sleep.

She works so hard, he thought. She helps Charlotte with the Institute and is always patient with the children. He placed a soft kiss on her forehead and watched her eyes move behind her lids. It was almost hypnotic, the flutter of her eyelashes, the rhythm of her breaths, all of it. He was so enamored by her. When she had first hit him with that vase, she reminded him of Boudica, draped in battle armor, looking fierce and beautiful.

He didn't think he deserved her, and he still didn't. She cared for him as much as he did her. And they had two beautiful Herondale children whom he could pass on his extensive knowledge of ducks to. His train of thought was interrupted by the brunette whom his shoulder was being used as a pillow for, opened her eyes. Blue met with grey. She smiled sleepily.

"How long was I asleep?" she groaned, sleep still coating her voice.

"Not too long, Tess," he smiled and kissed her temple.

"These children will be the death of me," she mumbled, clutching her head and unsteadily standing up from the couch.

Will stood up as well and grabbed her by the shoulders, guiding her up the stairs to their room. Once she was in bed, Will placed a kiss on her cheek and went off to check on the children.
