Coffee Boy catches a pterodactyl and gets the job

Summary: This is my attempt to get into Ianto's mind during the pterodactyl scene from Fragments. We all love to see Ianto cry. This is a chance to find out why. Pure Janto fic.

Disclaimer: I don't own Torchwood or any of its characters. However, if Jack and Ianto were real, I would be tempted to steal them.

Locating a pterodactyl in a warehouse with the rift activity locator Ianto had stolen from Torchwood London was the boon that he and Lisa had been hoping for. This was a perfect opportunity for Ianto to impress Jack and get a job at Torchwood. It was so simple. That is until Jack grabbed hold of the pterodactyl and was pulled into the air.

Ianto watched helplessly as Jack was carried through the air in great circles around the warehouse. Finally Jack was able to slam the tranquiliser into the leg of the furious beast. Jack hands slipped and Ianto ran forward, arms outstretched, catching the falling Captain. Jack's weight was too much and Ianto felt his knees buckle. With a crash both men were on the ground, face to face, the older above the younger. "Sorry" Jack said. Ianto watched, as in what felt like slow motion, the dinosaur fell towards them. With a mighty heave he pushed Jack over and they were rolling away, the pterodactyl crashing to the ground where they had been moments before.

Ianto felt his heart beating and breath catching. He and Jack were laughing with exhilaration. It took him a few moments to register his position. He was lying on top of the solid form of Captain Jack Harkness.

Thighs, stomachs and chests pressed firmly together. Jack's broad hands held Ianto's shoulders. Ianto looked down at the Captain's wide grin, white teeth flashing in the darkness of the warehouse. Ianto felt his smile fall from his face. He couldn't remember ever being this close to another man, yet somehow he didn't want to move.

Jacks hard body radiated heat and strength. Hot breath mixed, misting in the icy air of the warehouse. Ianto could smell Jack, salty and musky, and drawing him in. Jack was also no longer smiling. His eyes drilled into Ianto's with an expression Ianto couldn't discern. Ianto couldn't stop looking back into those brilliant blue eyes rich with unfathomable experiences.

Ianto felt a hardness form between their bodies and was shocked to feel his own mirrored reaction. That was when Ianto remembered Lisa. "I should go." He lifted himself off Jack and walked away.

Guilt hit Ianto like a gun. He had been having fun, enjoying himself, while Lisa lay connected to a machine in pain. It wasn't just that. His mind caught on the next thought, resisting. He had been aroused by a man. He could still feel Jack's hardness against his thigh. It made him slightly sick in the stomach, yet part of him wanted to turn back and throw himself at the older man.

"Hey." Jack called. Ianto stopped for a moment and turned his head slightly, but not enough that Jack could see the expression on his face. "Report for work first thing tomorrow."

Ianto took a breath. He had won. It barely registered. Lost in conflicting thoughts of joy, disgust, attraction and guilt, Ianto continued to walk away. Jack called out again. "Love the suit by the way." Ianto felt tears come to his eyes and his body start to shake.
