"You're right, Masaomi," Mikado said, lying back on the grassy hill. "The park is nice at this time of day."

Masaomi smiled. Seeing Mikado so relaxed was reassuring. Yes, he'd suggested Mikado come to Ikebukuro, but now that he was here, Masaomi never wanted him to get caught up in the city's dark side. In a few short hours, this park would be crawling with color gangs.

For right now, though, it had a great view and tons of sun. He looked over; Mikado's eyes were shut, but he was still smiling. Lying next to Mikado on the grass was all Masaomi wanted right now.

Well, not all.

"Mikado," he said, sitting up. "I brought you here because I wanted to ask you something important."

Mikado's eyes slid open lazily, but he turned to Masaomi with a smile. "What is it?"

"W-Well," Masaomi said, getting to his feet and brushing blades of grass from his pants. "You kind of need to be standing up."

Mikado hummed and shut his eyes. "I'm comfortable."

Adorable, more like it, Masaomi corrected mentally. He leaned over Mikado and blocked the sun from touching his face. In his shadow, Mikado's smile widened, his eyelids fluttering.

"Stay right where you are," he said. Masaomi laughed and grabbed his hands, pulling Mikado to his feet. Mikado's eyes flew open. "Hey!"

"You should know me better than that by now," Masaomi said, squeezing Mikado's hands and bumping their foreheads together. Mikado scoffed, but Masaomi could tell by the twinkle in his eyes that he wasn't mad. "Anyway, my question!"

"Your question," Mikado said.

"So, we've been dating for a while now," Masaomi said, resisting the urge to coo at the instant blush that stained Mikado's cheeks, "and I was thinking it should be for real."

"For real?" Mikado's brow furrowed.

"For real," Masaomi said. With a grin, he dropped to one knee. Mikado's eyes widened, and he looked around the park, undoubtedly wondering who could see them. "Mikado Ryuugamine, will you be my boo?"

Mikado stared at him for a minute before bursting into laughter.

"Remind me why I hang out with you again."

Masaomi grinned and rocked backwards, falling onto his back and dragging a yelping Mikado down onto the grass with him. Tangled together, he kissed his - couldn't believe he could actually say it now - boyfriend and smiled.

"I love you."

That precious blush returned to Mikado's cheeks, and he buried his face in the crook of Masaomi's neck, murmuring some halfhearted insult. With a contented sigh, Masaomi wrapped an arm around his boyfriend's waist and closed his eyes.

The sun was starting to set. In only a few short hours, the park wouldn't be theirs anymore. He'd have Mikado safely home long before then.
