Momiji walked through the busy streets. Last minute shoppers lined the cashiers at the store. Decorations of all kinds, mostly red and green, hung over the tree lamps. Woman with neatly wrapped gifts in their hands bustled around the side walks. Momiji smiled. It was Christmas Eve.
He smiled. To anyone, the smile would be like the first ray of sunshine in a storm. However, to those who knew him best, it was a smile filled with hurt. A smile forced to come out regardless of the obstacles that pushed it back.
"Momo…" Momiji quietly whispered so that only he could hear. "I wonder what you're doing for Christmas…" The boy trailed off. He lifted his face and stared at the endless amount of snowflakes that fell from the sky. The flakes dropped onto his cheeks and streaked down creating the image of tears.
The blonde looked back down. Momo… you were never with me on Christmas. And Papa, you said that we could still be a family after Mama's memories were erased but, then, why weren't you with me at all on Christmas? Aren't family supposed to spend Christmas together? You didn't even glance at me on Christmas. I understand that you needed to be with Mama and Momo on Christmas but what about Christmas eve? A quick little 'I love you, Momiji' would have made me happy. But… you were never with me.
"Hey! Momiji!" A certain female voice brought the boy out of his thoughts. Momiji turned around to see a pair of grey eyes staring at him. Brunette hair hung a little into those eyes as well as some aqua-marine strands. "I'm done shopping, Momiji. Let's go now!"
Momiji just stood there a little lost in his own thoughts. It was Christmas and someone was… with him?
Kaida's eyebrows furrowed, "Come on! We were supposed to be at the main house an hour ago! We need to help them put up the tree and I wanna be there when the star goes up!" Momiji smiled; this time, a real smile. Kaida's cheeks went red, "Wh-what?"
"Nothing," Momiji responded, his smile growing bigger.
Kaida's cheeks grew even more red. "Don't smile like that. It makes me blu- I mean, it's creepy when you smile so suddenly, like that!" True, Momiji smiled a lot but it was different when he flashed his REAL smile. The smile that made Kaida's heart skip twenty beats a second.
"Okay," Momiji coolly said as his smile grew wider. Kaida's so cute when she blushes.
Kaida sighed in defeat. "Come on." The girl took hold of Momiji's hand and started walking.
Momiji smiled. I'm no longer alone on Christmas. Now, I have a family, I have Kaida.
You like? HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!! I really do believe that this time of year is special.
