The value of affection
The Doctor and Rose were lying next to each other on deck chairs, trying to tan in the rays of the blazing sun. They were on Earth in the 21st century on a gorgeous beach in the south of France, having the most magnificent day. The Doctor had decided they both deserved a day off, and thought that a nice, relaxing trip to the beach was in order. Rose couldn't help but agree with this, as it wasn't every day he offered to have a day off from trying to save the world from all the monsters and aliens. Rose sighed with contentment and the told the Doctor 'You know this is the first time I have been to a beach abroad, I mean Mum could never afford to take me anywhere out of the country when I was younger, so I would just like to say thank you. This is so beautiful.'
The Doctor looked amused 'You mean before you met me you had never even been abroad?'
'Well – does Wales count?'
The Doctor shook his had whilst chuckling to himself. 'No afraid not, but just think, you have been to different planets, some amazing ones might i add, and you have also been back in forwards in time now. Not many humans can say that'
'Yes that's true, I am so lucky to be given the chance to travel like this.' She told him.
'Yes you are. But I have to say Rose Tyler it is my absolute pleasure taking you anywhere, and I am so glad you like this it here – it means a lot to me to take you somewhere you like so much. Mind you Earth is a beach on Earth is a bit boring, oh there is this one planet called Tootlep that has the most fantastic beaches the sand is actually red, and they sell the most incredible icecream in the beach cafe. I will take you sometime, well if you would like...'
'Sure.' Rose replied, grinning slightly at the way the Doctor was rambling on. He was just so sweet sometimes, this beach was particularly lovely but just being anywhere with him and her feel so happy. He was her best friend, like a brother to her, but she couldn't help but wonder sometimes if she would like them to be little more than that.
'But I don't care where we are, I am happy just as long as I am with you.' Rose told him.
The Doctor grinned with glee; he loved being with her too. He turned to look into her sparkling eyes, and couldn't help but notice how beautiful they were. They made his heart flutter. No hang on stop it, he said to himself, she is your companion, a friend – nothing more.
Suddenly Rose was off her deck chair stripping off her top, which revealed a black bikini. He could help but look at her she was just so...tempting. He gulped. No no no restrain, he told himself. He wasn't sure what as coming over him today. Ok yes he had admitted to himself a while back that he had some feelings for her which he probably shouldn't have – but he had pushed them all to the back of his mind, and had decided to keep them there.
Rose was watching him curiously and thought she saw him glance down at her chest, and saw an interesting emotion flicker over his face, what was it? Hunger? No surely not, the Doctor wasn't interested in her like that, she had clearly just read the expression wrong. Still she couldn't help but mistake the dumbstruck look on the Doctors face when she had removed her top. She just had to smirk at that.
'So Doctor' Rose said 'You up for a swim?'
'Me? Nah I don't think so…I'll just pass on that one' He replied, seeming a little surprised at the request.
She looked highly disappointed at him 'Aww please Doctor, don't be so tame, come on it'll be fun. Please please please!' The Doctor looked up at her cute, pleading face. God how could he resist that? It was so irritating.
'OK fine Rose' The Doctor said caving in to her 'swimming it is…just no splashing me!'
