You Kissed Me
1/1
Mary/Lou
The evening had sure been an eventful one. Georgette went into labor at the dinner table and thanks to Ted not being able to tell time the baby was delivered in Mary's bedroom. Not exactly the way Mary had envisioned the beginning of her weekend, but nevertheless those were the circumstances.
Mary and Lou had worked together to deliver a perfectly healthy baby girl. Nothing had ever been more thrilling and terrifying at exactly the same time. Bringing new life into the world was an amazing experience to be a part of. Emotions were running high and adrenaline was rushing threw their veins.
Lou grabbed two glass and a bottle of scotch. After all the birth of a new baby was cause for celebration. "What a sweet little girl."
"I've never sen anything so beautiful in my whole life." she smiled. "And you did it."
Oh, come on, Mary." he sighed. "I did nothing that a competent surgeon couldn't have done."
She stood and leaned across the breakfast counter, wrapping her hands around his neck. "I think you're terrific, Lou Grant." she carefully leaned in and kissed him on the cheek.
"This is a very sweet moment, Mary."
"Yeah, it is." she agreed.
Instinctively Lou leaned into her, his hands gently cupped her face. Her smile was warm and inviting. "I couldn't have done it without you." His lips touched hers delicately at first, barely brushing over hers. Then his lips parted ever so slightly and he captured her bottom lip between his, deepening their kiss. It was soft and inviting and delicate. Enough to make her heart melt. A kiss that could have gone on and on forever. He pulled back and looked into her eyes. "Thanks, Mary."
Mary was absolutely dazed. "You're welcome."
The doctor came out of the bedroom congratulating them on their delivery. And then Ted came out telling them the decision to name the baby Mary Lou. Followed by the paramedics with Georgette and the baby. But everything was still a bit of a blur compared to what had just happened between Mary and Lou.
Lou shut the door after the last paramedic. "Well, I think this is by far one of your most eventful parties, Mary."
"Thanks." she replied. "Are we going to talk about what just happened here?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "It's called a kiss."
"Yeah, I know." she said, sitting down on the sofa. "It's just that kissing me isn't something you normally do."
Lou sat down beside her. "Look, I'm sorry if I offended you." he apologized, gently placing his hand on her shoulder. "I was just caught up in the moment, I guess."
"You don't have to apologize." she told him. "I wasn't complaining."
"Good.' he said, his hand traveled up to her neck, pulling her toward him. "Because I'd like to kiss you again. If that's alright with you."
Mary smiled. "It's more than alright." she said. "In fact I would be offended if you didn't."
The End
