Courtney angrily slammed the car door shut and stomped up the driveway, behind her mom. She still couldn't believe they were moving in with her mom's boyfriend and her daughter. The two were actually engaged, but Courtney had never actually met his daughter. She sighed and waited while her mom knocked on the door. Almost immediately, the door pulled open, revealing a handsome, young man.
"Hey David," Courtney's mom said, smiling broadly. "Ellen, we have been waiting for you," David said, using her first name. He quickly gestured them into the living room. "And how are you Courtney?" David asked politely. "Fine," Courtney replied, curtly.
In the living room, a young girl about six or seven sat on the elegant, leather couch. Courtney inhaled sharply. The girl was magnificently beautiful. She had big, fall-brown eyes with curly, red hair falling past her shoulders. Her small, perfect nose and full pink lips all fit in perfectly on her tanned complexion. The little girl smiled when they entered and jumped off the couch. She ran directly into the arms of Courtney's mom.
"Hi mommy," she squealed happily. "Are you really going to live with daddy and I?" she asked, anxious. "Of course!", Courtney's mom said, hugging her tightly. "Is that your daughter?" she asked, giving Courtney a suspicious glance. Courtney's mom nodded. "That is Courtney," she said, eyeing her. Courtney forced a smile. "Hey," she said carefully. "My name is Holly," the little girl stated rapidly.
