Sound the Bugle
A/N: This is my songfic for Boromir. It's my first songfic so be nice. Sound the Bugle is from the Spirit soundtrack, I don't own it or LOTR. I changed Boromir's speech so that it fit the song but that's really the only thing I changed. Please R&R!
Sound the bugle now Play it just for me As the seasons change Remember how I used to be
I gasped as the third arrow struck my heart.
Now I can't go on I can't even start I've got nothing left Just an empty heart
I tried to rise, tried to help the little ones. But the orcs had grabbed them. They struggled, trying to get away.
I'm a soldier Wounded so I must give up the fight There's nothing more for me Lead me away. Or leave me lying here
The head orc stood in front of me, his bow raised.
Sound the bugle now Tell them I don't care There's not a road I know That leads to anywhere Without a light I fear That I will stumble in the dark Lay right down And decide not to go on
I waited for the fourth arrow. Death would be a release. From my pain, my guilt, my weakness.
Then from on high Somewhere in the distance There's a voice that calls Remember who you are
As the orc drew back the string Aragorn leapt out of the trees and attacked him.
If you lose yourself Your courage soon will follow So be strong tonight Remember who you are
The orc was dead. Aragorn rushed to my side and reached for the arrows. "No, leave them. You must save the little ones. Don't leave them with the orcs."
Ya you're a soldier now Fighting in a battle To be free once more Ya that's worth fighting for
"Save them." Aragorn nodded. "I would've followed you to the end. My brother. My captain. My king." I closed my eyes and let myself go.
