It had been almost two months since he had disappeared. Where could he have gone though? The little bird had searched everywhere for him. At the house, in the library, even near Hungry's house(maybe he was just having an awesomely long battle with her like they used to) but in every place the bird flew his heart broke a little more with no sign of the white haired man he had been named after. 'Gilbert...where'd you go?' That was his first thought in the morning and last thought at night. But in between those was always 'How could you leave with out me?'
The little bird chirped weakly, flapping his wings gently as he flew. He would never admit that it took all his strength to keep himself aloft, remembering Gilbert's words. "We're strong! We will always make it through every battle! No matter what we will never admit weakness!" Gilbird believed every word. He was strong! He would keep looking until he found the missing man, nothing was going to stop him! Not even his slowly breaking heart. But where else was there to search anymore? It seemed his missing friend had just disappeared off the face of the earth. 'I will find you!' He thought fiercely before a swift and strong wind blew in, gusting the small bird away and downward.
He held his wings straight out as he knew he had no control to where the crazy wind was pulling him. He let out a distressed chirp as he smacked into a window and fell to the ground. "Gilbird?" The bird quickly hopped up, looking for the voice before finding himself looking at someone's boots.
"Piyo?" Gilbird looked up as the person bent down, holding out a hand for the feathered creature to hop into. It was West, Gilbert's brother. "Piyo?" The bird chirped as though asking the German 'Do you know where he is?'
"You've been looking for him haven't you?" Ludwig asked, lifting him up and set him on his shoulder. "There's something you should see." Was he taking Gilbrd to finally see him? Gilbird began to feel his heart lift at the thought, the cracks and bruises beginning to heal. The awesome duo would finally be reunited at last! If birds could smile he'd be grinning like a fool.
The German man walked in silence before stopping a large cross, buried in the ground. Gilbird was confuse, where was Gilbert? He looked to Ludwig with black eyes, questioning why he had brought him here. Ludwig sighed and gently set the bird on the ground in front of the cross. Something didn't feel right. Gilbird chirped and turned to look at the cross then took a step forward before catching sight of the words engraved on it. His healing heart finally stopped and he slumped to the ground, wings spread apart as though attempting to fly toward where ever his friend had gone...reunited at last.
Ludwig sighed and turned away fro the words that he had read nearly a hundred times. 'Here lies Gilbert Beilschmidt-The great awesome Prussian Empire.' It was almost a shock that Ludwig had not died as Gilbert's little, yellow friend-of a broken heart-but Ludwig knew he had to live on. For Gilbert...and now Gilbird as well. "Auf wiedersehen ..Gilbird..."
A/N: TvT So sad...I know. I saw a little comic that inspired this. Poor Gilbird...it makes you wonder what happened after Gilbert dissolved. I swear I need to stop writing effing moody as hell things and actually write something happy for once. Maybe next time I'll write some fluff about Italy or something. What ever. Anyways reviews appreciated.~Ciao! Love Stripes
