Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter smiled to herself as she stepped off of 747 into the bright sun in Washington D.C.. She had gotten a phone call about a week earlier from Jack asking her to come as soon as she could, so she had gone to talk to General Landry that afternoon. He had said yes, so here she was. Once she was in the terminal, she grabbed her medium sized bag then started looking for Jack. She was able to find him fairly quickly.
"Hey Sam." He said with a grin while he wrapped his arms tightly around Sam. When they separated, Jack kissed Sam tenderly on the lips.
"Hey yourself." She said when they had broken apart.
Jack grabbed Sams bags and they headed off to Jacks car. After Sams luggage was in the trunk, they both climbed in. "So," Sam started, "What was so urgent that I had to come out this weekend that couldn't wait till next week?" Realising how that sounded she quickly added, "Not that I'm complaining about seeing you."
Jack chuckled softly, "You'll see soon." He answered mysteriously. "You brought something fancy to wear, right?"
"Yes."
"Good." Jack said smiling. The rest of the trip to Jacks Apartment was travelled in a comfortable silence.
Two hours later, Jack and Sam were standing in the entrance of one of the higher class restaurants in Washington. Sam was examining one of the many paintings on the wall while Jack was standing close behind her with one hand nervously in his pocket playing with a small box.
Soon the waitress returned and seated them. After their drinks had arrived, and they had ordered, Sam asked, "Why did you call me here two weeks early?"
"Because I was able to get reservations." Jack tried. Sam gave him a look that said 'I don't believe you.' Jack took a deep breath, "It actually was because I could get reservations here," He paused and took another deep breath, "And because I wanted to do this . . . " Jack stood up, pulled a small object out of his pocket, and got down on one knee in front of Sam.
"Jack," She said nervously as she watched him kneel down in front of her, "What are you doing?"
Jack opened the small black velvet box and looked up at Sam. The box contained a beautiful diamond ring, "Sam, I've loved you for almost 9 years." He started to find it hard to find the right words so he decides to keep it simple. "Samantha Carter, will you marry me?"
"Yes." Was her quiet response. After slipping the ring on her finger, Jack wrapped his arms tightly around Sam as several near by tables started clapping. "I've been waiting so long to hear you say that Jack." She said into his neck, "I love you so much." She added squeezing Jack tighter.
"I love you too, Sam." He said softly before returning to his seat.
Almost an hour later, Sam was hanging her jacket up on the coat rack just inside Jacks apartment. As she was closing the door, she felt two strong arms wrap round her waist. "I can't wait to tell the guys." Sam stated as she leaned back into Jacks embrace.
Jack turned her around in his arms and kissed her passionately. When they broke apart for air Jack said, "That can wait." He kissed her again and his voice became quieter and huskier, "I've got other plans for right now." He moved down from kissing Sams lips to nibbling at her neck.
"I like they way you think General." She said with a smile as she followed Jack to his bedroom.
