The place was barren. Smokes were everywhere, blurring his view. The land became arid due to war that had led many to die. However, the nation that he was waiting for didn't yet appear, but he knew he'd come. This man would always keep his promises, no matter what. The Englishman figured that he seemed to be arriving earlier than promised.
No need to wait for long, he saw someone was slowly appearing behind the fumes. The injured Asian wasn't alone, he knew it. He had brought together a little boy with him. His colony which had been seized from him not so long ago.
Malaya.
"You came. As promised," he commented as the black haired nation stopped, holding the boy in place.
Unsure whether it was a compliment or a sneer, Japan shrugged it off. He just wanted to return the small colony in his hand towards England, in peace. After that, he would retreat.
"He's injured."
England was about to take the boy from him, when Japan said that. He stopped, looking carefully at the young colony, from head to toe. Japan was right. He saw many bandages at parts of Malaya's small body. The war had affected him cruelly, for a young boy around his age, which could be too much to handle.
No choice. He would carry him.
England outstretched both his hands. Malaya just stared at the pair of hands which belonged to someone who once was his boss, not giving any response. He then looked back at Japan, who smiled reassuringly at him. The young colony was too young to understand everything, so the Asian nation gave the small boy a slight nod.
England was still waiting. Watching Malaya trusted Japan made him think those two were quite close, despite what Japan had done to Malaya.
Malaya looked at him again. England smiled and nodded his head. Malaya suddenly lifted short arms at him. Though quite surprised with the quick respond, England took him in his arms.
"Let's go home," England whispered softly in his ear, drawing circles on Malaya's back. The small colony didn't reply, but one of his small hands encircled England's neck.
Japan smiled, knowing he should leave. He had kept his words to return Malaya to England. He and England exchanged glances. The Asian nation stepped back, bowed and turned his body, leaving them alone.
England watched as his enemy left, until his body slowly disappeared from his sight, swallowed by the smoke. He turned his body, and his escort opened the car door for him to enter.
"The car's ready, sir."
"Let's head home."
The car slowly left, leaving behind a place which had witnessed the return of Malaya to England by Japan.
Fin.
