The 4th Day
No sun rose over Termina that morning.
Instead, the sky was black, mottled purple and grey with a sinister cloud, dust gently falling like snow over the ruins of a city crushed by it's own moon. In amongst the carnage, the broken, battered body of a Skull Kid lay, Majora's Mask lying by his side. In its own way, the dust covered Clock Town was tragically beautiful...at peace from the trauma of the last three days, the silvery dust softening the image of the destroyed town in a dawn that never came. The moon lay face down in what was left of the clock tower, covering most of the town and a part of the field, it's surreal meadow no longer visible.
The dust settled over Termina Field and Romani Ranch, too, ruined from the sheer impact of the moon. Part of the Ranch had collapsed, the roof of the main farmhouse, the unnatural preciptiation covering the bodies of two girls in the upstairs room like a blanket. All was quiet, silent. No cucco's crowed, no dogs barked. Not even the wind through the trees and the grass. There was nothing. The only movement was the falling ash.
If you were to look more closely at the town, you could make out the few residents that had stayed. A small dog lied next to the half-buried body of a boy, a man was curled up in the back of what once was a building. If they hadn't died from the rubble or the initial impact, the dust would of suffocated them. Unless you managed to flee over the mountains, where the shockwaves were lesser, you would've died instantly.
On the 4th Day, there was nothing. No sound, no life, no sun, no moon.
A tiny light shone over the ruins, before coming to land on a chunk of rock. In the lifeless dawn, a single living thing remained. A small blue fairy, looking over Clock Town for the boy she was supposed to guide and protect. A boy who had come here to find her, and had ultimatley perished doing it. A boy who had tried, and failed, to stop the moon.
Afterthoughts/Authors Notes
After watching the 4th day glitch for MM on youtube, I got the idea for this. What would Termina be like if Link failed to stop the moon? Would anyone be left?
