Just a little fic written to late for anything good to come if it...

"Lucifer, do you know who took the cookie from the cookie jar?"

God knew that it was his beloved son Lucifer who'd taken the cookies. You dont' have to be omniscient to see the small, childish hands covered in crumbs and smudges of chocolate and know what happened. Still, Lucifer was young and rebellious. there would be no punishment for the angel if he just admitted his wrong doing.

"Of course not, Dad." The selfish angle replied as expected. " I think it must have been Michael"

"It was not!" The eldest angel whined. "You told me not to and I always do as I'm told."

"Michael," God told his son softly. "Go play with your brothers. Gadreel has been feeling lonely."

Michael wanted to wait and see Lucifer justly punished, but he loved his father and did as he was told. Once Michael had disappeared,God bent down to His son's height.

"Lucifer. There is something you need to understand. I am not angry at you for disobeying. I just wish you could trust me, but understand that you can't. You must always remember, however, that you must not lie. Honesty gets you much farther than lies."

"I understand, " the angel replied with a bowed head. "Dad, why does Michael hate me?"

God could see what would happen in only a few short years. He knew of his son's futures. Still, looking at this young but headstrong angel, God knew that there was beauty in beings with free will.

"Michael loves you very much," God answered his beloved honestly. "He just worries that someday you'll make a choice to disobey where you will end up hurt."

"I'd never hurt you daddy. I love you more than all of creation!"

It wasn't until the smiling angel dashed off to meet his brothers that a sad God whispered under his breath, "But if only you could love my creation too."
