Ignorance

Bill climbed slowly onto the ledge of the building. It was about 6 storeys tall, not the tallest in the city, but he was certain that a fall from the top would kill him. He turned around to face the roof he was stood on. Which was the reason he was up there.

One day, about 7 months ago, Bill started to feel sad. He didn't recognise it at first and thought nothing of it.

But then it started to grow, and with each passing day, it got worse and worse. It then became a depression, always there, never improving, just worsening.

He tried to stop it, but there wasn't a lot he could do about it. Everything just hurt. Whether he was being picked on or hit by his brother playfully, it got to him. The slightest insult and he was down for hours.

He had had enough of it. It was killing him slowly and he could take no more.

The thing that was getting to him most about this, was the fact that his brother didn't even seem to notice. He just carried on, completely oblivious to the fact that his twin brother was dying inside.

That hurt Bill more than anything. Tom never comforted him when he felt like that. He did nothing for Bill, they didn't even get that much time together anymore. Tom was always ditching him to go to clubs and get drunk or to hang out with his friends.

Bill couldn't take it, the ignorance. The fact that no-one could see that he was breaking. The fact that his pain didn't seem to matter to anyone, that no-one seemed to care anymore. He hated it all, he just wanted to be out, to escape from it all.

And he would. He took a small step backwards, closer to the edge of the building. He then fell backwards.

Tom stumbled forward, laughing drunkenly as he walked back to his hotel. He had been to another club with Georg and Gustav, who he had left there. He was going to go home with a groupie, but had decided against it as he realized that Bill would of bitched at him in the morning.

Bill. His brother had been acting so strange recently. He almost never went out with the guys anymore, choosing to stay alone in his hotel room. The songs he had been writing were depressive too. They were so dark, and Tom was getting worried. Not that he'd address Bill's behaviour, if Bill wanted help he would ask for it.

But still…

Tom could see the hotel now, he was almost there.

He was slightly surprised to see a cop car out front, along with some police barriers and an ambulance. That was weird.

Tom continued to walk toward it, his curiosity growing. There were already a few people watching, wanting to know what was going on.

He glanced up to the top of the building, he sobered up quickly when he saw what was up there.

What he saw was his brother, his hair was a mess and he was staring at the ground below. Tom watched as bill slowly turned away from the street. He knew what Bill was going to do.

Barging through the police barriers, Tom ran through the door and climbed the stairs, praying that he would get there in time.
