Robin woke up to the smell of pancakes coming from the kitchen. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes and sat up on the bed. She was met with a hazardously written sign written pasted on the wall that read:
Mommy don't get oop. We're makeng pancakes!
Robin smiled lovingly at the childish scrawl and the bad spelling; her baby girl was growing up so fast, she could already read and write.
Robin waited patiently, sitting on the bed, for her foretold pancakes until she heard a loud crash and a high pitched scream coming from the kitchen.
"Guys?" she said,"Are you all right? Should I come downstairs?"
Since she received no answer, Robin decided it was best if she went down to the kitchen to check on them. As she walked through the door she was met with the sight of her 4 year old daughter sitting on the kitchen floor, pancake batter dripping from her head down to her legs, and her husband running around trying to clean everything up. They were both so preoccupied with the mess that neither of them saw her come in.
"Quick daddy! 'Fore mommy gets here!" said Natasha
"Mommy never needs to find out about this Tasha," said Barney "it'll be our little secret."
Robin chose that precise moment to make her presence known by clearing her throat. Natasha gasped and Barney cursed under his breath.
"Mommy it was an accident!" Natasha said quickly "We swear!"
Robin laughed and bent down to kiss her daughter's forehead.
"It's okay Tasha. I'm not mad sweetie" she said as she took some of the pancake batter from her daughter's hair with her finger and she stood up. She walked over to Barney.
"Morning Hon" she said, leaning in for a kiss.
When Barney's face was close to hers, just before he kissed her, she smeared the batter in his nose.
"Oh, it's on!" Barney said, taking some of the batter that had been spilled on the counter and dumping it on Robin's head.
Robin laughed and threw some more batter at her husband. Natasha squealed in delight at the prospect of a food fight, and joined her mother in attacking her father with chocolate chips.
A few hours later, Barney and Robin were hard at work cleaning the mess they'd made in the kitchen. Robin smiled, it had been a perfect morning. After their epic food fight, which she and Tasha had totally won no matter how much Barney complained about the injustice of them pairing up, she had drawn a bath for Natasha while Barney took a shower, and then she had taken a shower herself. When they were all clean and dressed they had gone out for brunch, the kitchen was too much of a mess to make breakfast, and now they were back home. Tasha was down for her nap, and Robin and Barney were cleaning the kitchen. Robin felt Barney put his arms around her waist and she turned to face him. Barney kissed her softly and sweetly on the lips, and looked her in the eyes.
"I love you Scherbatsky"
"love you too Stinson"
