Duo's Adoption

Duo sat at the kitchen table. He looked out side and saw Quatre teaching his children how to paint, Heero teaching his son how to shoot. He sighed. It was a weird feeling for him. He wanted a child to do things with too. He was the world's best babysitter for Heero and Quatre, but he only got to play with the kids when they weren't there.
"That's it!" he said, standing up from the kitchen table. He walked out of the kitchen. Duo headed down to the garage and jumped into his car. He was going to get a kid. He knew where all the orphanages were. He volunteered at most of them. He griped the wheel tighter. Where? Where to go? He thought. He just about missed the turn to the closest orphanage.
He got out of the car. Duo walked up to the door and knocked on it. An elderly woman answered. "Yes?" Duo smiled. "Hello ma'am. I'm hear to adopt a child." The woman looked him over. "Are you sure ma'am? You look too young to be adopting and where is your husband? This should be a joint dissuasion." She was about to close the door on him when Duo put his foot in the door. "First, I'm a man, second, I am sure and third, I'm not married." The woman looked him over again. "Oh well then." She opened the door again. "Please, come in." Duo stepped inside the large building. It was a bit chilly. "The children are in the back yard. Come." She lead Duo to a large back yard that was fenced in. he saw young children running around with sticks, "take that you Ozie!" one shouted. "I, Deathscyth, shall get you!" shouted another. A small smile crept to his face.
But the smile faded a bit when he saw a small little girl, running her hands along some rocks. "What's wrong with that little one?" Duo asked the woman. "That's Tatiana." The woman said, as if that would explain everything. "Why isn't she playing with the others?" Duo asked, looking back at the little girl. "She's blind." Duo looked at the woman. "She's a useless child. Just sits out there and touches the rocks. When someone tries to take the rocks from her, she gets violent. Bit me once she did!" The smile returned to his face as he looked out at her. He stepped out of the building's back door. Some of the children stoped and whispered. "Isn't that the pilot of the Deathscyth, mike?" and "what's the pilot of Gundam 02 doing here?" he crouched down by Tatiana. "Hello." He said, looking at her. Tatiana dropped the rock he was holding. "Who are you?" she asked. "My name's Duo." He said softly. Duo eased himself into a sitting position next to the girl.
The elderly lady just watched as this man who appeared well dressed and well bread man lowered himself to sit in the dirt with a child. He's just some loony rich kid. She thought. But a cute loony rich kid…He seems to like kids. She observed as duo just talked with Tatiana. If I can get him to think I like kids too, he might take me away from here and give me lots of his riches! Her eyes lit up like light bulbs. "Um sir?" she walked out to him. "I forgot to introduce myself. I am Caroline GoodWeather." Duo looked up. "Nice to meet u. I'm duo." Ah, Duo, such a lovely name. She thought.
