The fourth part of my War Story Series. I love this so far because I get to work with all of my favorite couples... :) This one made my friend cry so I'm really proud because usually she is an emotionless black hole of doom...like...Sasuke or...Neji... or any of the Uchiha or Hyuuga really...

So here is the disclaim...I do not own Naruto but if I did... Akamaru would be shown a lot more...I just love that little puppy!

I cannot sleep.

My eyes refuse to close and the tapping of rain cannot calm me tonight. I slip out from under the covers of my bed and turn on my lamp. For a moment I sit with my head held in my hands and breathe deeply, then once again I am moving. Slowly, sluggishly I feel my way down the hall, nothing but the cold structures of the walls on either side of me to help hold my exhausted body up and guide me.

Something is wrong. I know it is, but what is wrong?

I sit on my couch without switching on the lights and curl up, tucking my feet beneath me to keep them warm. There I lay, quietly and undisturbed until I finally drift off.

Suddenly, I wake , jolting up right and panicked, to a hurried knock on my door. Without hesitation I move to answer it without checking to see who it is. No sooner do I turn the knob than I am pushed back and to the ground with a hand clasped over my mouth.

My eyes widen and instinctively I try to scream and get away, too scared to see who it is that is holding me down.

"Temari. Shhh...Be still. Be quiet. Please."

I freeze. I know his voice Its the voice that so often sang me to sleep. And so I sit there and let him hold me down.

After a few minutes he deems it safe to move and he falls back to lean against the door.

"Shikamaru?"

"Temari, I'm so-..."

I cut him off by hugging him tightly. "Shikamaru. You're home."

"Yes. I'm home, but not for long. Please understand Temari I won't be here long."

My face falls. He had left a month ago with no explanation, now he's back and telling me he's leaving me again. It makes no sense.

"Shikamaru, whats happening?"

"Its nothing you need to know now Temari. Angel, just pack your things and keep them packed."

"Pack my things? Shikamaru why?"

"Because they're coming to destroy us."

"Who's coming Shika, whats happening?"

"A war is about to start Temari, between the Sound Village and the rest of us."

I shake my head in true disbelief. "What does this have to do with you leaving?"

"I am trying to stop this!"

"Stop it?"

"Yes. Stop it, by taking out Orochimaru and for all."

"No! No, Shika you'll be killed."

"Yes. I might die, but that doesn't matter as long as you are safe." He kisses me and holds me tight. " I love you," he whispers, then places a hand on my swollen belly, "both of you. Temari, let him know who I was."

"No. Because you're coming back to me. He'll know you because you're going to be back to raise him to be as strong as you are! Promise!"

He looks down ,then back at me and kisses my lips softly.

" I love you," he says. Then he walks out.
