First off, I want to apologise. This was written at 1am the night… no, morning before a psychology exam, and wasn't beta'd. It is therefore completely insane.
Also, it's my first CSI fic, so sorry if people are a little off.
And, if anyone can think of a better title for this, please let me know.
Judge and Mrs Stokes were in a hospital. It was a bad one. It wasn't bad because of hygiene, or rudeness, or death rate – in fact, the hospital was spotless, the staff were polite and friendly, and the people treated there tended to live.
No, this was a bad hospital because it was at this moment housing their son Nick, who was once again injured. The Stokes were in fact beginning to wonder if he didn't purposely get into trouble to get back at them for stopping him becoming an ornithologist.
They had wondered through most of the hospital looking for Nick's room, with the result that when they reached it they were so worried about the state their son would be in that even Nicks father was ready to give him a bone-crushing hug. Unfortunately, when they got to the door they saw a slender, spiky-haired blond man already doing it.
Judge Stokes made an odd strangled noise, and the blond man jumped backwards, only just avoiding a collision with one of the machines surrounding Nick.
"I… um.. I I'm…" he stammered nervously before shooting a helpless look at Nick.
"Mom, Dad, this is Greg Sanders." Nick said calmly" "He's my boyfriend."
"Boyfriend?" Mrs Stokes murmured.
"Yep, boyfriend. Or lover, life partner, whatever you prefer. Oh, and, we're getting married" he added in an afterthought.
"What?" came the resounding chorus from the other three people in the room. Nick turned to regard Greg curiously.
"Oh, did I forget to ask you?" he enquired. Greg nodded mutely. "Well in that case, will you marry me Greg?"
"Is this some sort of weird, morphine-induced daydream of yours?"
"Nope, totally sober. Well, almost."
"Oh…" Greg considered for a moment. "It's not legal here."
"We'll elope to Canada."
"Well in that case, why not! Can we have one of Grissom's bugs as a witness? He asked, beaming.
"No, honey." Nick patted his hand. Greg's beam disappeared and he pouted.
"Why not?" he whined (although he would later vehemently deny it)
"Because that would be weird babe" Nick explained patiently.
"Oh, and coming out to your parents by proposing to your boyfriend is completely normal?" Nick shrugged.
"For us, kind of, yeah."
"Okay then." Greg paused "But we're having a coffee flavoured wedding cake"
And then he and Nick made gooey eyes at each other, while Mrs Stokes called Mrs Parker from down the road to boast, and Judge Stokes considered that really, having a professional birdwatcher for a son wouldn't have been quite that bad.
So, yeah. Apologies. And I don't know Nick's parents names, so they didn't get any. I'm mean like that.
