Chapter 1: Six Long Months
It had been six long months for Max. Six long months since she'd seen, heard, or even touched Logan Cale. Six long shity months in her own personal hell. Six long months since Zack died for her.
It had only been three months since she found out something that made her shriek with joy. In the middle of a hallway, Brin told her to go into one of the secret conference rooms. All the guards look at her strangely but never mentioned it because they all stayed away from the x5's. It was there that Brin told her that she wasn't really reprogrammed.
Max hadn't understood why the tests and things they had run on her hadn't been affecting her. Max, at first, hadn't believed Brin, but then she looked in her eyes and saw the compassion and love that not even an x5 could hide. Now she understood why Brin had not gone after her on the roof while looking for Tinga.
"Act like a good little soldier and the stupid bastards will never know the difference. At least until we can escape." Brin had said. "How will we escape?" Max asked. "No idea just yet."
Two weeks after the conversation with Brin, they had come up with a plan. Now the were going to go ahead and go through with it. It was during a little thing the people at Manticore thought up. Every few weeks Max had to go through a mind program. They asked her about the other x5's. They had never gotten anything out of Max before. She always denied anything.
This time though, afterwards, Renfro, or as most of the x5's called her, Madame X, was very pleased with the outcome of the program. This time, Max purposely let some things slip about certain people. Namely, Krit, Syl, and one Eyes Only.
