One evening, in Torchwood Tower…
Ianto was managing the faux tourist office and warding off unwanted visitors. He tipped back in his chair and sipped his coffee, one of his finer batches that morning, waiting for Jack to signal his retreat down to a certain dark corner of the archives. That month had been hectic, the rift activity had been spiking up and down; dropping off strange creatures, and people too.
A pair of brothers, presumably from the States, had been dropped into the middle of Torchwood Tower and was locked up by Jack for trying to kill Janet. Their beloved car, however, had been taken by Owen for "safe" keeping. It really was a strange event, for they had mentioned Hell and Purgatory instead of The Rift or aliens. They claimed to have been "hunters", searching for a demon named Crowley and an angel nicknamed Cas. They clammed up after that, save for curse words and requests for pie. Of course it was his job to check on them every once in a while to give them food or make sure they hadn't escaped. He had done a background check and found that they were on top of the America's Most Wanted list of criminals, Jack had said that they were lucky to have been found by Torchwood Three, because UNIT would've had them deported and/or killed.
Jack had used the lie detector and deemed them "harmless", if they would've tried anything Myfanwy was on the prowl. "Hey gorgeous," Jack's voice filtered through the comm. system, "you're needed downstairs for some extracurricular activity."
Ianto could practically hear him waggling his eyebrows. He sighed, "Could you be any less subtle? I'll be down in two minutes."
"Don't forget, that's two minutes and counting my fine Welshman." Ianto rolled his eyes and made his way down the lift.
On the other side of the hub, however, things were not nearly as calm.
Gwen was complaining to Rhys on the phone about never getting any time off and as usual succeeding in pissing everyone but Jack off. Her constant jabber had Myfanwy's cries leaving everyone grimacing.
Owen had been examining a strange creature with long snout and a snake-like body, when all of the sudden a man appeared behind him in a trench coat. The last thing he saw before everything went white was the man raising his hand over Owen's forehead.
Tosh was examining a strange piece of alien tech. It was a long, slender cylindrical device with a glowing blue end when you fiddled with the controls on the side and had a shiny, silvery look to it. A soft whirring sound filled the room and grew louder and louder until she finally looked up from her desk and a blue box was right in the middle of the room. Although it read "Police Call Box" across the top, she noticed that it was a slightly different structure than how it was when they were popular. The door creaked and a strange man came out. "Oh, hello. You must be Miss Sato, we've met before you see."
