This is a story I wrote for my creative writing class and thought I would share with you guys. Just a one shot, but it's funny and very possible.
Sara looked over at Grissom for the fifth time, glaring at him. Her mouth was set in a grim line as she picked up her book once more and began to read. He continued to concentrate on his paperwork as she looked over the book at him, her eyes narrowed.
She currently sat in the chair in the corner of the room with her feet under her. Her hair put into a slightly messy ponytail and she was still wearing her pajamas.
Her eyes were drilling themselves into the back of his head and he began to sweat slightly under her gaze. He shifted slightly in his seat and tried to concentrate on the papers sitting in front of him.
He turned a page over and made some marks on the paper as she shifted in the chair once again. Her feet remained up and her posture suggested she was in flight mode, poised to run with the slightest movement.
His back was to her and he was sporting a mixture of laughter and fear on his face. She huffed at the room and he stiffened his shoulders slightly with the noise. She continued to stare daggers at him while looking over the edge of the upside down book held securely in her hands.
She spotted something on the floor and sat herself higher on the chair while her breath caught in her lungs. He noted the change and turned around in his chair and glanced around the room.
He noticed it right away and got up from his chair. He headed over to the object of terror and gently took it in his hand. The giant Hissing Cockroach let out a huge noise as he picked it up and she scrambled a bit more in her seat.
Sara sighed when he left the room with it, finally being able to unfold herself from the chair and headed as far away from the bug as she could possibly get. Grissom came into their room moments later "Sara, I'm really sorry. I had no idea the lid to the terrarium was loose." She looked up at him and glared.
"Really, if I had known…" he stopped as she got up and headed into the bathroom to escape him, still angry and yelling "two hours Griss, two hours". He hunched his shoulders and walked back into his office remembering the events from the last two hours…
Sara was just getting out of bed when she thought she saw something out of the corner of her eye. She looked back but it was gone. She shook her head and continued to look for Grissom when she saw it again.
She turned her head quickly and saw not one, but all five of Grissom's racing cockroaches walking on the walls of their room. She screamed "Gilbert Grissom get in here right now!"
A moment later he was running into the room with a worried look on his face. Sara couldn't peel her eyes from the cockroach just inches away from the end of her right foot. He came up to her and picked the roach off the floor, a light chuckle escaping his lips.
"That better not be a laugh I heard. It's not funny" she yelled at him as he headed over to retrieve the others. "Sorry dear, I have no idea how they got out" he commented as he picked the last one off the wall and headed out of the room to put them in their home.
When he came back upstairs she was in the office checking her email. He really didn't want to tell her the information he needed to, but decided to plow forward knowing it would be for the best.
"Sara" he said lightly.
"Hmm" she returned distractedly and with a little annoyance in her voice.
"Henry is missing." Sara froze in her seat for a moment and then quickly pulled her feet into the chair knowing at any moment Grissom's prize racing cockroach was going to crawl on her.
"What do you mean he's missing?"
"I looked around and I couldn't find him" he said quickly.
