Kudos to Korra-Naga on tumblr for the prompt!
Legend of Korra belongs to Brychael.
Mako wasn't jealous. Nope, not at all.
His hand wasn't twitching when he saw a boy ask his girlfriend on a date.
His heart wasn't racing when a guy tried to hold Korra's hand when they were walking to the arena.
His mind wasn't thinking about burning a vendor's face when he tried to get Korra's number.
Nope, he wasn't jealous at all.
He just didn't think when they went out on their first dinner date. He and Korra were at the new seafood restaurant by the docks, just trying to have a good time, but Mako was already getting a headache by their waiter's constant yapping.
When the waiter finally left to handle their orders, Mako let out a deep sigh of relief. Korra noticed this action and smirked.
"You ok there, City Boy?" Korra asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Of course not. That waiter's the most annoying person I've ever had to deal with," Mako huffed.
"Are you sure it's not because he wanted my nonexistent number, Mako?" Korra laughed at the memory.
"Oh he wanted more than your number, Korra," the firebender mumbled, eyes looking at anything besides Korra's bright blue eyes.
"Wait a second, you're jealous!" announced Korra as she leaned over their table to poke him in the chest.
Her boyfriend almost fell off his chair in response to Korra's accusation. Red-faced, Mako vigorously shook his head in denial.
"I'm not jealous! I mean, you're my girlfriend, I shouldn't be jealous if a guy tries to flirt with you."
Korra laughed hard and grabbed his hand from across the table.
"You're so cute when you're like this!" she exclaimed.
"That was very emasculating," Mako answered drily.
Korra gave her hand a squeeze and said, "I'll tell you what. You can be jealous of all the guys that try to get with me, but remember that I'm yours."
After feeling Mako squeeze her hand in return, Korra added, "After we finish eating, why don't we go back to your place?"
Mako chuckled, replying, "Then I can't wait for my food to come out already."
Thankfully, an old man instead of the hapless teenage boy served their food. Mako and Korra ate and laughed, having a much better time after the incident.
It didn't stop Mako from burning the teenage waiter's trousers as he walked by.
