"Helios…!"
As the word fell from my maiden's lips a bright light enveloped both of us, and when it faded away she was gone. The only sign of her presence in this dream realm is a small ripple in the shallow crystal lake we stood in.
But the word she had spoken remained with me even as the dream ended. It had been so long ago since I last heard my name spoken by someone without malice and darkness in her voice. Centuries and millennia since those of her parents' royal lineage have summoned me by that name.
But to hear her call my name now…
There was surprise there, as well as awe. I could tell, for it was plain in both her voice and in her expression. But the tone of her voice was soft like a fledgling's feathers, and tender as the skin of a babe.
Even before the Dead Moon Circus, in the far reaches of my memory of the Golden Kingdom and the Silver Millennium none spoke my name in such a manner. There was respect and deference, but no more and no less. When my maiden spoke my name just now however, I could feel the warmth in her words. Her innocence, her compassion come together to form the sound of my name.
Though my physical body is still imprisoned by Nehellenia I feel a lightness in my heart. It is a feeling of joy, a feeling I remember from when I could still travel freely through the skies of Elysian.
Yes, I want to feel that again. And you will, I told myself, and when you do she will call out to you by that name and make you believe that it is still possible to fly freely in the night sky.
