AN: Hi everyone. This is just a VERY short story (I'm not even sure I would call it a story) centering around Lifeline. I got the idea late one night andtoday I just decided to write something and this is the result. It has not been betad. Please review.
Another Lifeline
"I'm sorry it took me this long," he said.
"I once told you to never apologize. It's a sign of weakness," she said. "And you have nothing to apologize for. You're not the only one who needed to get their act together."
"Walking away from you that night wasn't easy."
"Neither was walking away from you, but in the end I think it was for the best. We were'nt ready for that step. I thought I was and in the end I almost married the wrong man in my search for the fast way to happiness."
"I once told Kate that I wasn't involved with you. I don't think that comment even had me convinced," he said. "In one way or another I think I have been involved with you since the first time I saw you in the rose garden. "
"We have been through a lot together. The search for your father..."
"Lowne the clown, Bug-me and Webb"
"Neurotic Annie, Jordan and the Video Princess."
"I guess we make quite the pair, huh?"
There was no response to that, but she simply put her arm around his waist.
"No matter what happens you'll never lose me"
"I know. It took me a while to understand, but now I do." He pulled her even closer and looked into her eyes. "You'll always have someone who loves you."
"And you have someone who loves you"
They echoed the words spoken at a time when they'd thought their love would never have a chance. This time their kiss was sweet and filled with love. Harm and Mac were no longer hiding from their feelings and they were now ready to share them with the world. Taking each other's hands they walked back into Admiral Cheggwidden's house to celebrate their engagement.
