I remember when I was trying out the Death Knight starting zone how bad it made me feel killing all those people. (Even though they're not real, I still felt bad. ;3) Was honestly wishing I could move on in the game without hitting that part. So I had this little oneshot pop into my head about something I wished I could do.

The Blood Elf loomed over the child that was pinned to the ground by an arrow, staring down at him. The child was human, no older than five, and the arrow had gone through his thigh and straight into the ground several inches.

The Blood Elf… Rather, the Death Knight, as she was now, had been off fighting a Scarlet Priest when it happened, and noticed it out of the corner of her eye. As she finished the priest, she began making her way to the child. To her surprise, the child merely grunted from the injury, pulling on his leg in an effort to continue moving with the rest of the people.

His skin had a light tan, and he had dirty blond hair, which was complimented by bright blue eyes. This was a contrast to the Death Knight, as she had skin the color of snow, and black hair which hung loosely past her shoulders. Still, her eyes were blue too, despite the fact that the blue that her eyes held was far more menacing and cold.

The child had not noticed her approach out of the corner of his eye, as his focus was fixed upon standing back up, and it was not until she was already standing above him, armor and sword caked in blood, that he realized she was there.

First he saw her metal boots, and followed the legs up to her face. As his eyes met her's, he began crying. Having been sitting up, he found his strength drained and fell backwards onto the ground, sobbing heavily. He noticed that he couldn't look away from her, and he couldn't find any comfort by closing his eyes either.

The Death Knight's sword was clenched in her right hand, which was resting by her side, as she stood over him, deciding whether or not to kill him.

After an eternity, which was likely only a couple of seconds, she noticed the little boy's eyes shift away from her face and onto something behind her. Immediately, his crying intensified, and he at last spoke, "Mommy! Run!"

At once, the Death Knight turned her head and saw the woman who was probably the boy's mother. She had no weapons, and was a good thirty yards back. She probably would have kept running had she not noticed the Death Knight looming over her son. The woman was staring towards the two of them like a deer caught in the headlights, completely motionless.

The Death Knight shifted her gaze once more onto the boy. Finally, she heard the compelling voice once again in her head.

Finish it… Leave no survivors.

She felt her hand going down, but what she did surprised her. She swiftly tore the arrow out of the ground and out of the boy. Glancing back at the boy's mother, she saw on the woman's face nothing but surprise. Offering the mother a slight nod with her expressionless face, the Death Knight moved on to battle more nearby Scarlet Warriors.
