The day that Abby Scutio heard that Dean Winchester was dead, killed while being apprehended for attempted murder, she cried. Sobbed her eyes out for nearly a week, snapping at anyone who even looked at her wrong. Even innumerable Kaf-pows bought by everyone who had to be around her didn't make a dent in her fugue.

And then Sam called her.

Within the space of five minutes, she went from sobbing her eyes out to shouting angrily into the phone, threatening all sorts of dire things if whoever was on the other line left her hanging for so long again.

So nobody was really surprised when two strangers showed up looking for her, bearing black roses and Kaf-pow, which she accepted with a happy smile and a stern warning not to think that this meant they were forgiven. They accepted the warning with sheepish smiles of their own, and she dragged them down to her lab to interrogate them both. Nobody said anything. As long as it snapped Abby out of her depression, nobody was going to complain, even when she started sending them on errands throughout the office, delivering files and such. She was smart enough to only send them to Gibbs' team and Ducky. The only thing that made anyone pause was just as they were leaving. Abby popped up and said cheerfully, "Great! So I'll just run home and get my shotgun!"
