Another request from tate310, this time it's "The Spotless Record" from Season 7. Enjoy and comment.

A brand new tank engine was racing across the Island of Sodor. He was very excited, and didn't want to be late.

"Right on time!" said Sir Topham Hatt.

Thomas and Percy looked at the big tank engine. He was very impressive.
"This is Arthur." said Sir Topham Hatt. "He's here to shunt trucks and pull freight cars."

"Nice to meet you." said Arthur politely.

"And he's got a spotless record!" added in Sir Topham Hatt.

Percy didn't know what that meant.

"What's a spotless record?" he whispered to Thomas.

"It means that he's never been in an accident before."

The three engines were soon at work. Thomas and Percy were bumping freight cars. They knew it wasn't allowed, but they were having fun.

"Join in Arthur!" said Thomas.

"No thank you." He didn't want to get into an accident.

Arthur's first job was to push a freight car full of fruit to the market. The troublesome trucks started to sing.

"The fruit is going out, the fruit is going out. The fruit is going off the trucks, 'cause you're too slow!"

"How rude!" huffed Arthur. He decided to keep the trucks in order.

Arthur puffed through the countryside. At first the trucks were quiet, but soon they started to sing again.

"Silly old Arthur is so slow, that he can't even puff!"

"STOP SINGING!" yelled Arthur. "Trucks should do as they are told!"
The troublesome trucks were crosser than ever. If they couldn't sing, then they would teach Arthur a lesson.

"He can't tell us what to do!" they giggled.

Soon, there was trouble. Duck was waiting patiently at the level crossing, unaware that Arthur was going to crash into his goods train. Arthur's driver applied the brakes, but it was too late! Fruit flew everywhere and landed on Arthur, his driver and fireman, Duck, and his driver and fireman! Arthur's spotless record was over.

Everyone was very angry, including Sir Topham Hatt, who was BEYOND angry.
"Arthur, what do you have to say for yourself?"
"The troublesome trucks were singing. I tried to stop them, but they made me go too fast. It's my fault. I'm sorry sir."
"I knew this would happen. As a punishment for breaking your spotless record, you must clean up this mess.

"Yes sir." said Arthur.

A lot of work had to be done in order to clean up the mess. Arthur worked his hardest to clean up the mess.

It took a long time, but finally, the mess was gone.

Sir Topham Hatt was very pleased, and promised Arthur a new coat of paint.

"Thank you sir!" said Arthur. He had learned that spotless records were made to be broken, not kept.
