Fem!Tsuna and Adult Reborn, Cancer AU, and much, much more~
Hello~
I've been dying to write a good old fashion KHR AU, so I made this sorta thinking, "I'm in the mood for something sweet, but sad at the sam time."
So, here you are!
Your Dearest Weirdo,
Mellow-chan
01: ...Is Bask In The Sun
"I think it's going to rain soon."
"You think so, Tsu-chan?"
"I do, Mama."
"Well, we'd better get inside then."
…
"I wanna stay outside, Mama."
…
"Tsu-chan, you can't stay out here you might get a cold!"
…
"Tsu-chan?"
…
"I wanna be outside when Mister Sun comes back out, Mama."
Sawada Tsunayoshi: she was a terminally ill cancer patient, had been since she was about fourteen. When she had first been diagnosed, she had been told she had second stage Bronchioloalveolar cancer. Now, Bronchioloalveolar cancer had a fair survival rate of 100%, given that the tumors had a diameter of less than that of 5 centimeters.
Her tumors were 6 centimeter in diameter, and had nearly infested her lungs.
It was easy for her doctors to say that she would die a slow, painful death, full of troubled breathing, full of bloodied coughs, and abundant in taxing surgeries. It was too late for Sawada Tsunayoshi.
She knew that.
She knew that she had only two or three years to live, but all she wanted to do was sit in the warm sun, and bask quietly in its gentle rays.
The sun, you see, is a very, very bright thing once you look at it long enough. You might think that it's always just there, but the sun isn't something anyone should take for granted.
Sawada Tsunayoshi had understood that from a very young age.
She told herself that she would never, ever take the sun for granted. Never
So, she had always willed her weak, frail body in the sunlight for only a few moments a day, no matter how horrible she'd felt that day.
Today was no different.
Tsunayoshi had woken up, being greeted enthusiastically by her ever attendant nurse, Gia-chan, and she had slowly made her way down to the hospital courtyard, via Gia-chan. Tsunayoshi felt an odd feeling of discomfort in the courtyard were she was so used to being, and she was slightly disturbed about it. So, to cure this bout of unsureness, Tsuna rolled herself to the hospital gate, were no trees stood, and just sat there.
The sun felt nice on her skin, and the fresh air made her lungs burn, but she was aright with it. It reminded her she was alive, and that was all that mattered.
Sawada Tsunayoshi-the girl who trended on the earth lightly, and wanted nothing more to sit in the sun and look at the sky.
"Mama?"
"Yes, Sweetie?"
"Am I going to die, Mama? The doctors keep saying I'm gonna die."
…
"Mama, what's Bronchioloalveolar cancer?"
…
"Mama, I don't wanna die."
…
"Mama?"
…
Her mother disappeared into a puddle of tears.
Renato Sinclair, more commonly known as "Reborn", had done plenty of hard things in his lifetime.
He was a hitman after all. Soon to be "World's Greatest", in fact.
Reborn, he was a tall man, with spiky black and onyx eyes to match. He supposed that people would say he was good-looking, handsome, even.
(A lady-killer, his boss says.)
This man was simply walking down the streets of one Palermo, Sicily, and was just passing by the the Hospital when his elegant gait ceased for a brief moment.
There was a woman in a wheelchair by the gate of the hospital, her face pale, but bright, and sweet honey-amber eyes that perfectly matched her short, unruly brown hair. Her eyes were closed, and she had a very vague, very beautiful smile on her thin, daunt face. Her breathing was steady, but shallow, and Reborn could see the oxygen tank and nasal cannula that she was currently relying on. Her lips moved slightly with each breath she took, and her thin arms and wrists made her look all the more ill.
Reborn couldn't say he had ever seen anything like the woman who was basking in the sun, in all her diseased glory, as she had a small, crisp smile on her ashen face.
The hitman tilted his fedora down, and walked forward with some difficulty, a small frown on his olive skinned face.
(Reborn could explain why it was so hard to look at the woman who's eyes were closed, and her breath, weak.)
"Reborn."
"Yes, Boss?"
"It seems that your... Situation... is something that even I cannot prevent in anyway."
...
"I... see."
"I'm sorry, Reborn, but there is nothing I can do."
...
"I must be going now, Nono."
"Ah, yes, you have a meeting, don't you?"
...
"It seems to be that way."
Tsuna glanced at the tall man who was standing by the edge of the gate for the third time that week, and she decided she should at least try to make conversation with the man.
She glanced up shyly, making eye contact with the man before she stuttered, "H-Hello."
The man looked at her with keen black eyes that flashed in brief surprise as he tilted in black fedora down.
"Good afternoon, Signora." His deep baritone voice had a magical quality on Tsuna that she thought only the sun and the sky could give her.
Tsuna smiled a small, endearing smile as she gestured to the stone bench beside her.
"Care to join me, Signore?"
The man seemed to ponder the offer, but Tsuna was sure it was just out of pity or politeness, because he slowly shook his head, as he were regretful for have to do so.
"Mi dispace, Signora. I have somewhere to be in a few moments, and I only stopped to catch my breath.
Tuna raised an elegant eyebrow; the answer amused her greatly. The man, though it took just a smidgen of skill to recognize, was lying. There was a sharp voice in her head that seemed to registered whenever someone fibbed, or when something awful was about to happen. That, and the man didn't seem tired in the least-in fact, he actually looked as fresh as a daisy.
"Lying is a sin you know. You should probably go to Confession right about now."
The man stared at her in surprise. He tilted his fedora down and smirked. "Why, aren't you a clever one?"
"I'd like to think so."
The man's eye twitched, and Tsuna smiled tentatively.
"Well, go on. You've somewhere to be, Signore."
The man nodded hesitantly, but before he turned, he said, "I'll be back."
Tsuna had to remind herself to breath as she nodded.
"I'll be waiting."
...
With that, he walked off.
"Ah, Reborn, you were almost late."
"Your point being?"
...
"Did you have somewhere to be?"
"No."
...
"Are you sure?"
...
"...No..."
To explain Bronchioloalveolar Cancer cause it's not exactly the most know cancer on earth, I would like to give you a few facts about it:
Who it affects:
BAC is more likely to affect non-smokers, women, and Asians (especially eastern Asians) than other forms of lung cancer. Its incidence appears to be increasing, especially among younger non-smoking women.
Symptoms:
Symptoms of BAC are similar to symptoms seen with other lung cancers , and include a persistent cough , coughing up blood (hemoptysis), and chest pain. But it has also been called the "masquerader." It is not uncommon for BAC to be mistaken for pneumonia or other lung diseases before it is diagnosed.
Treatments:
Surgery is the treatment of choice for BAC, and when a single tumor can be removed, there is often a good chance that it will be cured. It appears to be less sensitive to traditional chemotherapy , and there is controversy over whether or not adjuvant chemotherapy (chemotherapy given along with surgery) should be used with surgery. BAC does appear to be more sensitive to the newer targeted therapies , treatments designed to attack cancer specifically and spare healthy tissue. Lung transplants are being looked at as an additional treatment. And if the cancer does not recur in the transplanted lungs, it offers another chance for long-term survival.

Please leave any comments or suggestions, cause I really like knowing y'all's opinion, and I'm not really sure if anyone will really like this fanfiction, so I would like to know what you guys would like reading and if you liked reading this.
God Bless Ya,
