"MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!" I watched as Deidara shouted through the entrance. He was always cheerful and sort of the life of this nostalgic 'sanctuary'. If it weren't for him, I'd be gone already. The holidays were here…what a blissful time of year. I wanted to walk the streets of Konohagakure. Should I go, there is only one objective: Neji.
"Uchiha. Why so down?" Pein was staring at me; noticing I was drifting in my thoughts. I suppose I could ask for a break. Maybe a few days? It's the holidays. He has to.
"Leader, May I have a break?" Pein glanced forward and simply answered "Why'd you hesitate? Of course I'd let you off. After all your hard work, you deserve it." He is in a good mood today. I shouldn't concern myself with that, though.
As I walked I saw glistening lights above houses. I reminisced of how I used to spend Christmas. Neji and I would get together always--and it wasn't about the gifts given to each other. We were happy without. Now that the yuletide is here I want to make it special. It is not everyday I get to see my beloved. But there sure are a lot of happy villagers.
Trees had blinding illumination across their pricks of green; people were belting rhapsodies of carols. It was the lovely rejoice that crept a smile on my face.
Every step I took was a step closer to him. When I turned the corner a figure was in the distance. Afamiliarfigure. I leaned in more and glimpsed at his face. Sparkling, snow white eyes touched a pair of crimson red. The way the lights complemented his features stowed me in awe. No one I knew could make me feel this but Neji. He ran up to me and I felt my eyes drift off to him. Neji stood in front of me and smiled declaring "Merry Christmas, Itachi-kun." He then embraced me tightly and whispered "I've waited for you. Come inside."
He led me to his house and inside Hinata was under the tree sleeping. "Don't worry about her. Poor thing had too much beverages. Hold on. I have something for you."
He ran to the tree and pulled out a wrapped present. After removing the wraps, I uncovered a locket. Within was a photo taken on our first date. I smiled once more and stated "I wouldn't have asked for anything better."
"I know it isn't much, but I couldn't think of anything else that was of value."
"It's the thought that counts. Thank you, beautiful."
"You're welcome, handsome. Hey look. Mistletoe."
Below the small wreath are lips caressed with a depth of love that no one else could reach. By the way Neji pulled me closer, he was enjoying this. A lustful smirk slithered his face. He pulled me to a room and threw me on the bed. He began to pull off my clothes, as I did with him. The uncontrollable atmosphere of yearn for each other was as great a gift as I could get.
Now matter what, this would be the best Christmas ever.
