I knew I had said something wrong the moment the words left my mouth… The Shanti virus and its effects… 'Damn'…
"Is that why your powers are gone?" I looked at Maya knowing what was coming next… "That you have this virus?"
I stole a glance at Mohinder… The look on his face was one of disbelief.
Busted…
I saw Mohinder move, but I was quicker. I slipped the gun from its hiding place and brought it up as I stood; aiming the gun at Mohinder's head. I could see a knife in his hand. If only Maya didn't open her mouth.
'We could've had a future together. The one person who understood…'
I take a step forward and I move the gun closer to Mohinders' face, he drops the knife he had intended to stab me with…
"Gabriel? What are you doing?" Maya exclaims in an incredulous voice, her accent thick.
I keep the gun level as I continue to aim the gun at Mohinder. I thought I had planned this so well. Obviously, I was wrong; I never factored in Maya's curiosity and her pursuit of a cure.
How could I have been so stupid…?
'I'm sorry Maya, but you have given me no choice… I love you'
