He watches her as she sings, realizing that the words she was sing were aimed at him. He should've been hurt, but really, he wasn't.
He accepted it.
He smiles at her, looking for something, anything in her eyes that say she's lying.
But there's nothing.
Thanks to you I got a new thing started.
The phrase sends chills down his spine as he continues to clap for her. He knows that she's won, not only the competition, but she's won her happiness. He should've been upset. He should've been doing something to stop this, but he couldn't. He couldn't do anything but be happy for her, because she finally found someone worth fighting for.
Thanks to you I'm finally thinking 'bout me.
He laughs, knowing that this was true. He brought her down, especially in the last few months of their relationship. He didn't like to feel inferior, so he brought her down. He tried to do anything to make it seem like he was stronger that her. He knew it wouldn't work, but he continued to try. She was stronger though, she was better. She was perfect, and she deserved someone who would make her feel like she was. That wasn't him.
You know in the end, the day I left was just my beginning.
He applauds when they stop singing, happy that she was able to pull off such a number. She deserves the best, and he was finally seeing that. He looks to her, smiling once more, and she waves. Maybe the two would be friends in the future. It didn't work out romantically, but maybe it'd work out just as friends. Either way, he was proud of her.
She walks out of the choir room, seeing Sebastian standing there with a smile on his face. She looks at him and smiles back, walking up to him.
"You were great," he says, trying to hold back a kiss.
"You were too," she replies, looking back at him.
"Were you singing that about me?"
Santana pauses for a moment, knowing the answer to that. Of course she was. She was singing to him, and anyone who knew her knew that. She only nods, not able to form a one word answer.
"You deserve good things, San. You deserve Brittany and you deserve to be happy," he says, looking at her with a smile.
"Thank you," she says with a pause, looking back at him. "It means a lot."
"Yeah," he replies, looking back at her. "Well, I uh, I gotta go. Gotta be with my team for when they announce the winner."
"Yeah, me too. Good luck, Sebastian."
"Thanks, we'll need it," he says with a smile, as he walks off.
He misses her, but he knows that he'll find happiness in the future. He knows that she's happy, and that's all that matters.
